You probably already tried it - but booting into safe mode to run Malwarebyte is often more successful

I had some custom made items made up for a very reasonable price - I now have an exceptional Dwarven War Ax with 2 greater elemental damages, and a tower shield +3 with 3DR and 15 fire resistance - very tasty

Same thing happened to me - I restored NWN2 directory from a backup (just the program files one) and used the links in this thread to selectively patch to 1587, and all was good.
