Have fun with it, Dex as a main stat as a rogue and then pick up a crossbow. Put one sneakattack shot into someone and run, with Dasarias 400 second rest cooldown it makes it alot more effective.
Plus as it was already pointed out, grouping with rogues makes alot of the painful parts of dungeons less painful.

The largest wound will come from those you considered friends.
Not going to quote anyone on what they said before just going to say what i think about how I would play a Rouge... I wouldn't try to be a full up-front fighter or anything, i'd be a support character, so best not to solo with always... unless it suits your playstyle then by all means solo away hehe.

I wanted to make a rogue assassin myself, but I wanted to make a tiefling, only tieflings are very, very cute.
Look!

They're so adorable! How can they ever be evil?

Oh no! A rogue requires a little bit more thought and tactics! It's nerfed and the worst class by far!
Anyway, you have a couple of decisions on your hands...
Race? I'd suggest human, not only does it fit perfectly for RP into the world, but it's the most solid of all the races, and that extra feat works wonders.
Now the rogue I used to always go was the rogue/fighter build, the ratio of that depends on how much rogue you want. 16/4 was one of the best, still got massive sneaks, but you got 4 base attacks per round and some extra feats to deck out with. But now in NWN2, you can't sneak attack another rogue that has 4 or more rogue levels then you. So the full 20th rogue is a lot more viable. If you take 20 levels of rogue you can max out ever skill and make sure you can sneak attack everything (except for 20th Dwarven Defenders.
)
Personally I would still go the 16/4, but that's just me. I think the extra attack per round and the extra feats aswell as some more hitpoints and toughness is awesome. You can save upto 5 skill points a level too, so if you alternate it right, you can still max out 5 skills completely.
And one last thing, duel wield kukris.

Well here's my two cents on rogues:
The thing about rogues is that they're very variable. You can vary from a kindly vagabond to a trained killer, from a government spy to a murderous thug. That opens up all kinds of RP and since you have access to nearly every skill many people just choose to make non-combatant characters. For those combat oriented, you can use melee weapons and crippling blow to weaken an enemy's strength or use bows, hitting and running to gain the advantage.
Rogues somewhat weaker in NWN2 than they were in NWN, but they're still a great class. As for making one on this server, don't expect to get more than 1 rogue feat. You won't get any until after level 9. Also don't expect to get assassin or ranger HIPS since you'd need to be above level 11 (and I don't think anyone is?) so if you want to use HIPS you'll need to get dodge, mobility, 10 hide, 8 move silent and 5 tumble for shadow dancer. You'll find plenty of use in trap filled areas like Kalem's and to an extent, bugbears. That means you'll be loved by highbies and the RP you can squeeze out of a rogue adds to that. All in all, rogues make very good characters on this server!
Oh... And if anyone wants to test a monk / ranger / assassin to see if the multiple attacks over 3 attacks per round work! That is, you can get just shy of 10 attacks per round at max, which means you'll do 3 or 4 attacks in a row right away. So the question is, do you get 3 or 4 sneak attacks or just 1?

It's an interesting thing. People are always complaining that rogues are hard to solo. I have yet to find a game where this is the case. It just takes more planning than most classes.
That really is the biggest thing about properly playing a rogue. Planning. Know the entire situation, all the possible escape routes, and plan for surprises. What do you do if this plan backfires? Do you have a Plan B? C?
You can't run in and expect your strength and high health to get you out. Super magical spells? No. God on your side? Not so likely. Good looks and a pretty song? Not your style. It's all down to you and making every possible advantage work for you. And a little poison never hurts. Much. At least not for very long...

I can see it coming in very handy.. stealing keys off encounters too hard to fight in dungeons, planting fake evidence, etc.EvilPyrate wrote:I've never played a rogue as a thief. I've never used PP on a PC in NWN. My rogues are always more of the spy/scout type. Sleight of Hand is just a waste of perfectly good skill points as far as I'm concerned.
