Only dish out what you're prepared to receive in likekind, Cain. If or when corpse-bags are implemented, you better be able to accept that when players kill you, you will lose 1-3 random items. Every single time.

I know for a fact that the Dasarian community can be merciless when they have to be. Do not let the roleplaying façade fool you.

This is just a warning to not feed him....

Post by Kaybin »

People people people.....Cain is one of those people who likes confrontation. Stop feeding him after he hijacked the original posters thread. The more I read his reply's and posts the more I realize he is the same Cain from a previous nwn1 PW I was on. There it was the same....confrontation confrontation. Just leave him be...don't respond to his threads and let it go. He will just talk circles around what he has previously stated and try and one-up everything you say. He is just one of those people that needs to be right.

And no...I will not be coming back to this thread to see his reply, because I know its coming.

Lets all go back to the fun.

But at he same time, it's poor RP for a thief to snatch things away from other PCs (or a Drow female to tell some surfacer male "tough luck, male scum") because other PC's don't enjoy that? Sorry, I guess I just don't get it.
The main difference is choice.

When someone who ranks as "overpowering" runs up to your kill, takes your stuff, then says "Well I have it now, it's mine"...you don't have much of a choice in the matter, do you?

When you chose to create a drow, and when you choose to play that drow, especially in a way that causes that drow to get a bad reputation, you CHOOSE to deal with the repercussions of that. You CHOOSE to deal with the fact that people hate drow every time you log on as that drow.
Draco - "Allow me to introduce myself, I'm a man of wealth and taste."
Lorcann - "BACON!"

Grayle, etc - if you want to do that, fine. I only ask a few things.

1) you wait to impliment this until there are other areas for me to go to (as I'm doing with my champion of nature Druid).

2) you tell me you're going to do it, when the PW adds a few more areas so I can set yous guys to hostile (damned stealth bug). Well, and so I know you're not just saying something you're not serious about to make a rhetorical point.

3) seeing as how I've never had a steal on sight/KoS/continual targeting of anyone (from my end, anyway), I just want to point at that there will be reciprocal treatment for anyone who signs up under the "KoS Cain's Drows program," and therefore for people not to complain (or say something moronic like "wtf, griefing!!") when I return the favor without warning when I catch you in a tight spot.

If we can agree on those 3 things, I'd be willing to try this little experiment with you, Grayle (and other posters with interest). Just don't be surprised if you end up at the respawn point as often as I do.

Never played NWN1 online, and didn't even register my NWN1 key(s). My Obsidian account is only a few months a old.

But your powers of perception are incredibly impressive.

You can relax, Cain. It was merely hypothetical in the hopes of giving you something to think about. Read it again, and contemplate my true message.

My character doesn't hate Drow. I wouldn't change his behavior to prove some OOC point ever. If he ends up hating Drow, or just your character in particular, it would be in reaction to in-game circumstances.

You've got a huge chip on your shoulder, by the way.
If you say so. I have contemplated your "true" message there, and my thought in response was "well, I don't continually dog anyone, and I always give my victims the chance to get X back." So maybe you (guys...?) should also sit back and ask yourself if I'm actually doing what you guys seem to be assuming I'm doing.

Too bad about that KoS thing, though... would be a whole new element to playing a Drow, having to stealth your way through town all the time, just to keep your skin intact... and of course, dealing quick, silent death to Drow hunters. Oh, stealthy wolf packs of Drow hunting out Drow-killers that have been marked for death by the Drow leadership... there's an interesting thought. It might not be a bad idea to impliment as the server gets bigger, seriously.

Sounds like Rarry needs to tell Grayle a fireside tale of Drow, strike a bit of hatred for them into his heart.
I'm always right. I'm also a jerk. It's not my fault you can't get over the latter to see the former.

Hurray for Me!

Cain, lol, you are achieving that very thing, except your enemy will be the government of Cear, not my character.

At this point Cain, I am so not happy with the way you play your character.

You've stolen my kills and my loot multiple times.
Cain wrote:Alright. I gotcha. By the same token, if you don't like a loner rogue snatching your loot... party with him/her or chase him/her off at knifepoint, or roll a rogue yourself.
I tried this the first time you stole from me. I was low level, figured if you were so desperate for loot you were willing to take mine (without a single word to me by the way), you must be a poor newbie having trouble leveling. You refused to join party with me and ran off.
Cain wrote:Tell the guy that if he keeps it up, and/or doesn't return whatever, he'll lose his head. Given that loot and kill stealers are generally weaker characters (hence the need to steal; they can't get it on their own), it works well. And in my experience, following through on the threat even once results in much less theft in the future.
Oh, I would have loved to do that when you did it again to me later. But you were overpowering to me. I couldn't touch you. You once again, silenty came up, and attempted to steal a boar or wolf kill from a couple of low level characters. Then, when we managed to get the final blow, you figured you could at least steal the boar hides. When we chased you down screaming "Thief!" it took a great deal of time for you to finally stop. We demanded you give back the skins you stole, to which you briefly conversed with us, saying you attempted to help. We said we didn't need it, and we killed the boar. It came to the point where if I could have killed you, I would have tried, but I had nothing I could do to you.
So you rudely said no, and ran off.

You don't RP when you steal hides. You walk up quickly and quietly, stealing kills and hides. You don't even give characters a chance to respond to you before running off.

I don't care if you have some kind of roleplaying excuse for why you can be an inconsiderate player. You are stealing experience and money items from players that have no way to retaliate. I have never treated your character badly because she's a Drow, and she's still continued to antagonize anyone that's on screen with her.

Yeah, I remember you guys. Ever consider that **I** was out there grinding animals for XP and hides, and a bunch of pissant little low level characters were stealing MY kills and MY hides? Maybe I was "overpowering" to you three, but I was at level 4 or 5, (HP 28 or 35, AC 20) and didn't have any other good way to get XP, having completed all the other quests I was capable of. And if I hadn't been able to beat you guys from boar to boar and get what I needed, I was going to tell you to stop interfering in my hunt. Figured I'd cut some lvl 2 chars a break, but I know better now. :?

And, no, I'm not exactly hanging on every detail of my screen as I'm grinding my way up 8,000 XP, 18 points at a time, waiting for someone (of an appropriate level) to come online who'll party with a Drow.

Perhaps, next time someone's giving you trouble and seemingly ignoring you, you'll use the tell function in the chat?

Oh for god's sake, ever occur to you to ask if they wanted a hand?

On the other hand, ever occur to you that people don't want to party with you because of your conduct? It's one thing to play an evil drow, but it's another matter entirely when you, the player, act like a jerk. You can convey your evil character easily enough through roleplay—you don't need to steal hides and loot from others. I refer you to this post, sir, and ask you to review your behaviour with that in mind. If you fail to see anything remarkable about that, then really there is no point in discussing this further.

There is a reason people don't want to party with you—and it's not because you play a drow.

It wasn't your hunt. You were fighting other creatures in the area. We engaged these boars. You inserted yourself in a fight that wasn't yours, and then looted hides from creatures you did not kill. Without any roleplaying at all. There are going to be a lot of people online in the same area at the same time. But if someone has engaged an enemy first, it's their enemy.
Maybe I was "overpowering" to you three, but I was at level 4 or 5, (HP 28 or 35, AC 20) and didn't have any other good way to get XP, having completed all the other quests I was capable of.
Level 4 or 5 including the fact that Drow have a +2 level adjustment?

Oh, so since I'm telling you that I think you should be more considerate to lower level characters that can't retaliate to your hostile actions, this has someone translated to "I need to be more rude and try harder to piss other players off."
waiting for someone (of an appropriate level) to come online who'll party with a Drow.
When I offered to party with you (rather then get angry at you stealing from me, which was my first inclination) I was at the same level as you, playing another character. I took from that encounter that you weren't necesarily a poor newbie in need of help leveling, but that you were just inconsiderate.
Perhaps, next time someone's giving you trouble and seemingly ignoring you, you'll use the tell function in the chat?
When did I say you were ignoring me? I just said you didn't roleplay when you stole other's loot. You don't do it for an in character reason, you do it because the loot is there and you're trying to level your character.

Well this thread seems to have completely gotten disrailed and I expect to be locked soon. What I want to point out though is that this will be another case for a complete waste of time for those that could be doing much more constructive things then playing babysitter for this issue or that. Lets try to keep things like this down so that things like dev work and stories can be worked on.
