I dont care whatever the GOOD thing is about booze.
For every positive thing to it there are at least 5 negative things to say about it.

The problem isn't with alcohol, it's with the person who drinks it irresponsibly.

It is the same as guns not being the problem in The USA - blame the nut jobs who have easy access to them.

I can't think of one downside of alcohol itself.
It's just a game...

The downside is the people who drink it irresponsibly.

I think there are good and bad aspects. The Italian side of my family .. my grandparents drank at least one glass a day until they died--both dying in their 90s. Did that help them live that long? Who knows, but probably. They were active every day, drank wine (red wine mind you), ate a rather healthy mediteranean style diet.. etc.

I'm haven't been able to drink for about 5 years now. I'm just now starting to again, because I was only prescription meds and didn't want to drink, but even then, I only drink on the weekends.. and nurse one beer, or drink a glass of ice wine (that I could get drunk on probably, but i haven't yet.. that's good stuff)..

If done in moderation, drinking's great. When you do it every night, wake up the next morning with no clue what you did the night before--that's when you have a problem.

Small amounts can help you sleep, calms your heart rate and reduces stress.. Stress is one of the major reasons for short life. When you read that article dont go to the extreme and jump to thinking about the people who go out everyday and get drunk off their butts.. The article is talking about the glass or so of red whine each night like Falcon said.

Next they are going to say cutting yourself helps you.. O wait XD It does lol. In a twisted sorta way when your in extreme pain and you cause yourself pain in general your body releases endorphines (body's natural way to reduce pain, has the same chemical structure as Morphine) and the endorphines target the place you register pain at more.. thats why people like piercings, tattoo's and such... It gives you a different high you dont normally feel.
I thought I read somewhere it was the grape seed extract in red wine that was beneficial. Something called the French Paradox, where even though French cuisine was high in fatty foods, they had lower blood pressure and cholesterol.
