I am incredibly flexible with this.

The most important rule I have with grouping is that everyone is having fun, and are enjoying themselves. I do not suffer idiots that go out of their way to ruin the gameplay for others.

I enjoy RPing, and prefer it, but I'm cool with just a relaxed dungeon crawl if that's what people want. I can associate with the "power-gaming character builders" if they're fun and cool people to game with. Like I said, I'm flexible.

But in the end, I prefer the good, solid roleplay. It's why I play this game.

Number One priority though: everyone is having fun.

I chose this one because, well, I'm impressed by the depth of the Dasarian campaign, and the players are a big part of that. All of the creators are a part of that. The more stories created, the bigger the epic. And then there are those simple moments when you can actually feel like you are immersed with another player's character. Suddenly you aren't sitting in front of a monitor anymore, you're looking through the window of a living breathing soul. It's the creation of our wonderful community.

I voted the "They teach me new ideas about how to improve my game, role-playing or mechanics." option based only on improving my role-playing. This option assumes that the player plays well themselves, knows the rules and adheres to them and plays a character that meshes with the campaign, so it is the most comprehensive in my eyes.

"Funny and fun to play with"... this is what it's all about for me. After all, before roleplaying, monsters, treasure, dungeons, etc., D&D has always been about social interaction.

#1 Fun. And that includes others, if someone else feels bad about something I did and I realize that it was a cruddy thing to do I feel cruddy.

That probably reflects the fact that many people playing in game that are powergamers probably don't visit this forum often. Mostly just to get the latest download/update.

Also, there are at least a few people that create characters mostly for the RP aspect. Although I don't want my character to be toally ineffective, I certinaly didn't min/max her to death. I've got a Wisdom and DEX based cleric. If I'd just wanted to powergame, I would have gone with STR instead of DEX and taken advantage of all those cleric buffs. Instead I see her personality as much more of a supporting character, trying to find her path than a leader. Also, I really didn't see her as a muscle-bound warrior.

James has had a few "unfortunate" encounters with Elenia, and I think she is very well played.
Kind of shows my own roleplay for how bad it is. :) She is always showing up at the worst times to lighten up his dark plans, making James really fight to keep calm and not tear his hair out in pure frustration. :P

And from what I have seen, she is not useless at all. ;)
Some mornings it doesn't seem worth it to gnaw through the leather straps..

spelling can highlight an accent, speach problem, the fact the character barely has an IQ, or a poor education. I doubt Varana would provide a public education system ;)

Definitely. Though perhaps not ALWAYS IC is needed, for me. I mean, sometimes you need to make an OOC comment to the whole party, which you can't very well do via multiple tells without cutting into valuable RP time.

Understandable. But it is easy enough to make a well built character, who is also made for RP. But I have found in nwn2 builds don't matter so much as they did in nwn, everything is much more fair. Few builds are uber-powerful compared to others, provided you use them right, and didn't design a sorc with 11 cha or something. :wink:
But then again, I haven't even reached level 5 with any of my online characters, so I haven't had a chance to see how the higher levels are evenly matched..
