I see... but my point was more of a "who gave who the right to classify who"... are these people idiots because they did or think something which someone else thinks of as "wrong"? Wouldn't these people then think the same of other people with other points of view, etc?Evelond Formos wrote:You're taking my comment completely amiss. If there were no idiots in the world, then no intelligent people would be rewarded. So, in general, I LIKE having idiots in the world.
I do NOT classify anyone on these boards as an idiot, if that helps.
So that would mean that everyone is an idiot. Meaning the love can be indeed shared. :3
...for real, I can't understand what the heck I'm writting today.

It's funny how money became worth more than its creator.jawsofhana wrote:Actually, war is the most lucrative buisniess there is. If you manage to win a war with minimal casualties, you have made yourself a really good deal.
Besides, a human life is worth nothing, unless you count selling organs.

I realise that's the way it goes in this world. And that's -exactly- what is wrong with it as well. A little more empathy wouldn't hurt.
I read a piece once about a man who survived the war in Yugoslavia. He was kept a hostage for a while, they made him bite off the private parts of a fellowprisoner.
There's so much more to take in war then simply ones life.
The first world war started because people forgot the pain it takes to settle a war. And we're heading straight for a position and mindset like that again. And we'll head into the next world war being glad we can fight again, just like then. Because we haven't become any smarter. We just made ways of communication easier.
The thing is, if human life is worth nothing, then without it both their organs and their money are equally worthless.jawsofhana wrote:Besides, a human life is worth nothing, unless you count selling organs.
Anyway, what I mean by 'The basis for all life requires cooperation' is that all life would cease to be without micro-organisms, so at the most basic level all life requires the cooperation of micro-organisms. If they were to gain sentience and change their mind, we'd all die.
Life is really delicate, but we keep behaving in a similar way to the average lichen and that seems to be working for us! ^^;
Actually, thinking about it, lichen are very similar to animals... Hmm...!

Very good point. We may have email and websites and can take a look right into the heart of any culture we want to (as opposed to years gone by) and all we do with this is see what different nationalities look like with their clothes off or have found an easier way to insult those we don't like face to virtual face.Because we haven't become any smarter. We just made ways of communication easier.
I often think a lot of problems come from a lack of understanding, but then, I suppose it comes down to a lack of interest.
I don't feel any shame, I won't apologise

Maybe it's both. There are people smart enough to understand that showing some interest might help; but they don't because they are more intested in other things, whatever those might be. And then there are the people who really aren't in the position to be interested and just go and ruin things (nomatter whether or not the intentions are good or bad).muletang wrote:I often think a lot of problems come from a lack of understanding, but then, I suppose it comes down to a lack of interest.
A soldier who's given orders to kill on sight isn't asked to show interest. And a General who's interested in the gold in that one old community of "barbarians" isn't going to give a hoot because he's greedy.
They all want war because of different reasons and the main reason is Me, I think. I don't wanna die, I want to become rich, I want to make a name for myself. People can say that it's not for themselves but for their "family" but it's still an egoistic trait. Because maybe those other people don't want to die either.
I think it's a wellknown story of the young soldier who went onto the battlefield for the very first time and stared into the other young soldiers' eyes when they came face to face. They were the same age, they had lived the same lives, they both had parents and a girlfriend waiting at home yet one could live and one had to die.
A thought just struck me while I was typing this, it's a scary thought.. They are saying that humankind is still a child, that we are only evolving into something bigger and that we still have so much to learn...
But what if they are wrong? What if this is all we'll ever be? What if we -are- adults? Maybe those scientists saying that are only hoping that we'll someday grow up. Kinda like, boys never grow up; their toys just get bigger?

left alone, or perhaps guided rather, we should follow the eventual course of evolution - but I doubt we're going to be around that much longer. Our imaginations are taking us in to a future we'll never realise. And on our way out we'll probably do something very silly and ruin the planet completely. We're great.
