Descent (the Luke Perry centre of the earth one, not the cool other one) - bit lame, but I sat through it, wouldn't recommend it (the Core was better and that was crap too)
Pi - awesome soundtrack, excellent idea, good direction. Really like this one.

The most horrible and cliche fantasy 'epic' I've ever seen. It's got the story of A New Hope in the setting of LotR with enough bad dialogue to make Pirates 2 look like Shakespear. The only reason you would waste your money on seeing this is to get the inevitable wave of burns that will follow of how not to write a fantasy. It felt like someone had just gotten the story of a DnD forum, can't say I've read the book but if the main plot line is anything like the movie then I'm staying right away. There are so many better fantasy novels out there that would make awesome movies it baffles me why they even bothered with the liscence for this.
Also, worst name ever. The kid was obviously writing Dragon but hit a typo and tapped E instead, then though "Oh wow that sounds cooooool!" *shudder*
I felt like it was the book anyone who has read a hell of a lot of fantasy and is 16 would write if they thought they'd get away with it, and pile on to that the dialogue was childish and simple.
Fair play I suppose that he did it, don't listen to me I'm just jealous he is a rich writer and I'm not

Hornblower was good. I think I saw most of them. I also watched The Life of Brian recently (seeing how it was on and I never saw it), that was pretty funny.

Isn't that exactly the case? I seem to remember Penny Arcade doing a real number on the book sometime last year.

Hornblower is a bloody awesome series, I used to watch it years ago on TV, but it hasn't been on for ages and I spotted the boxed set the other day for a reasonable price and picked it up. Been watching it and damn I love it.
Another series that is graet if you liked Hornblower is Sharpe, set in the Napolianic war too but based around the army instead of the navy, and stars Sean Bean. I've only seen a couple of episodes but it's fantastic so far. I'm trying to get a hold of the boxed set but it's not out in Aus yet. Import time. ^^

wow, sharpe is ancient but I really liked it too. Latest things I've been watching - Heros (restores my faith in cheerleaders phew), Jericho (the US nukeathon - no, not for that reason) and Greenwing (another shameless plug).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Penny Arcade is an online comic. Something similar if not like an online comic called Order of the Stick. (the latter I've read, but the former I've only heard of).
Yea Penny Arcade is just an online comic, but they do blog entries and satire about games and movies and all that jazz. So he was meaning PA mentioned Eragon.

saw The Passion last night, with that bloke Jesus. Bloomin good film I thought. Good direction, level of violence appropriate for time and setting without being gratuitous, didn't over play the 'I am the holy man' side of things.
Contrary to some artistic impressions, the moments on the cross were not sublime but really bloody hurt. Portrayal of everybody seemed really well done and the traditional (as far as I know what hebrew or aramaic or latin sound like) language added to the atmosphere.
All in all pretty cool. Didn't understand why there was such outcry at it, it visually tells the story we've all heard before. If you want to try and instill in a kid what the suffering really meant then show them that.
Also watched Independance Day recently - apart from the over cheddar moments I really like that one.
