Why no starting equipment or gold?
just a question really. curious as to why there is no equipment or at least a little gold so you can buy a few basics.

There are numerous starting quests that will earn you XP and gold without having to fight a thing. They also will provide you with a little flavour of what life is like in Cear.
Speak to the NPCs, take the Amabassador's tour, and visit the shops in the Trades and Common's section. Also make sure you speak to the nattily dressed lil gnome in the Mistyvale as level 1...a great little starting quest there.
After these little quests you should be coming up on 3rd level and have enough gold to outfit yourself to take on those fierce wolves.

When I first logged on to Dasaria 2, I was a little annoyed at not being able to "jump right in," but after a short time I was very glad that I had to do a few non-combat quests before things got going. I learned a lot about the background history and current state of life by delivering Writs of Amercements, taking the Ambassador's Tour, etc. I think it's perfect.
Characters: Soltis, Garrett, and William of Aucklorn.

I think one of the DM stated (it may have been Wyv), that one of the major reasons for the lack of starting equipment was to prevent players from creating a bunch of low level characters, stripping them of the items, and giving it to their main to give them an edge.
It's been a while though, so I don't remember clearly.

I really liked the fact that you start with nothing. it was my first indication that Das was going to be a good server. I do like to see a server with non combat quests and the no - equipment start is a sure-fire indication of that. I hope that there are more out there.
I have only played a little so far, but I like what I see, especially 'spoon fed' vampires
