She kept quiet through Pylia and Maeve's words, her body rigid with wary apprehension. Finally, the words came out, no longer possible to be contained.

"For a tea and a stab, I can go to the Buck!"

Still crouching, Chia kept facing Latishe, her eyes darting back and forth not to miss any movement of either of the tree. While Pylia's voice seemed to have an effect, she still appeared more highly strung than a fiddle of a player with serious affection for rooftops. The choice of an anecdote did not seem to help, either.

"Yeah, I'm some cursed vermin to jump from under the table and be locked up afterwards. Whatever. At least when I want somebody gone I'll just cursed tell them to their face, not prod them with a cursed blade!"

She moved her head lightly as she spoke, estimating the distance to the open door and Latishe.

"Curse this! If I wanted a backstabbing company, I'd find some halfers!"

Maeve looked to Chia, her face contorted in a look of confusion.

"A stab?" Her eyes moved from Chia to Latishe, "What do you mean a stab and prodding with a blade? I'm sure Chia did surprise us with her drop in, but...a knife?"

She looked to the Priestess of Brintha and then the tiefling with geniune concern. She thought to herself...

Edited for spelling.

Pylia stands, her hands hitting the table with a loud THWAK and her eyes now blazing.

"First off, Chia, for someone that dropped in unannounced and uninvited, and through the window I might add, you have no cause to act the outraged party here. Latishe would have been well within her rights to call for Roggins at your first appearance."

Pylia looks at Chia, levelly, her gaze showing no pity and oddly enough no anger after saying that. "And two your act of outraged innocence and your want of taking offense where none was intended is getting old. If I had wanted to insult you I could think of a lot worse than likening you to a small fuzzy animal I was quite fond of."

She smiles, not quite brightly but with a bit more warmth than she usually shows Chia. "Now, for once in your life put the damned poor pity me attitude away and maybe try to see that not everyone is out to stick a knife in your back for no reason."

*looks to Pylia and then Chia, her jade eyes glimmering in the sunlight as it filtered through the window*

"I'm sorry Chia, but Pylia has a point. You came tumbling through that window unannounced and Latishe did invite you in to join us when she could have asked you to leave. But, that being said, I don't think violent force was needed here. Chia did not attack us or pull a weapon on us. Had we only asked, she would have left of her own accord."

Chia snorts loudly, glancing at Pylia. The expression of anger, contorting her blemished face, amplifies the inhuman look of her eyes.

"There's just one person here that could say that to me, and you sure are not her. Like I said, if she" she nods toward Latishe, "wanted me out, could have just said something instead of poking at me with sharp things. Anyway, she invited me in the first place.

Guess that doesn't count, right?

Whatever. Get the psycho away from the door, and I'm gone."

Glancing at Maeve, Chia realizes that the woman spoke as well, her words intermixing with the tiefling's own tirade.

Pylia sighes then glances at Maeve mouthing the words "I tried, you handle her, I am done."

She then takes her seat with a serene expression, giving Latishe a small smile of encouragement.

Maeve moves across the room, taking a neutral place in between Latishe and Chia near the door. She remains calm and resolute offering a warm smile to both Latishe and Chia.

"Chia, before you go, could you please explain what you mean by stabbing and sharp things. You have been quite vague regarding it. Did someone threaten you before you arrived here? I know Latishe pulled a dagger when you first fell through the window and then put it away, but is there something else?"

She straightens up from the floor, crossing arms over her chest. Without bothering to obscure the act, she slips a long stiletto, retrieved from a concealed sheath under her leather pants, inside the leather sleeve covering her left forearm. Her feet are placed firmly on the floor, allowing one familiar with various forms of combat to recognize that she still does not consider the threat gone. Hardly surprising, given the sword-weaving "psycho" by the door.

"Yeah, she put it away right to my back, you mean?"

There is a stubborn element to her angry expression, and a clear refusal to back down against the perceived lack of fairness. One can only use their judgement to determine if the offense is genuine, or faked. If the later, she could land a leading role in the local theater at a whim, judging by the conviction of the expression.

*She looked to Chia, an concerned expression on her face*

"So you are saying she had the dagger pointed to your back even when we were talking and drinking tea?" She spoke in a neutral and calm tone.

*Maeve's emerald eyes drifted to Pylia and then Latishe, not wanting to believe, uninvited tiefling or not, a Priestess would do such a thing. But then again, she thought to herself, do I really know these people? Sensing Chia's apprehension regarding the exit and the sword wielding Latishe she continued to stand in between Chia and Latishe, offering Chia a safe way through the door if she still wished to leave.*

Edited for clarity.

Latishe lowered her longsword and moved away from the door, so Chia could have a clean break without the fear of being gutted by a lunging strike.

Latishe could feel her face burning with a mixture of anger and shame. Anger that she had tried to be nice to the halfbreed mongrel, and it dared to bare its teeth to her. Shame because the Talon of Hate had so easily claimed her heart again, despite Pylia's encouragement to resist it.

She could only hear muffled echoes in her mind as Pylia and Maeve talked, their words of rapprochement and commonsense seemed to be an unknown language to her rampant Varanian instincts.

"Get Out" She coolly reiterated as the eyes of the Talon sharpened its hate upon Chia.

Pylia looked between the three females as a certain realization dawned. She then looked at Latishe in compassion. If Chia's actions and attitude tries my patience, how much harder must it be for a noble-born Varanite, used to the obedience and respect of others?

Still, it would have been better if Latishe had resisted the temptation.

Pylia gazed at Chia, her eyes taking in her posture, her facial expressions and then mentally went over how she spoke. Her voice was calm, but stern when she spoke.

"While I do not agree with Latishe's methods, I do most certainly understand them Chia. For one, she is a noblewoman who paid for the use of this room, to have someone break in through the window. If you were as innocent as you are trying to portray, you would have been using the door in the first place."

"Two, your ...hostility...dislike...whatever it is of me was more than apparent . It is quite possible that Latishe was being overly cautious given the recent attempt on my life."

"And three, " Pylia looks at the woman earnestly. "Well three is complicated. You have a tendency to act like an outraged victim at any perceived slight. yet you deliberately set out to provoke said responses by your behavior. Here is a secret for you, all of us in this room have felt an outsider here. All in this room have problems, some quite serious. All of us have our own demons. The difference is, Maeve, Latishe, and myself are each actively looking to face our own demons and help others to do the same. You...you look for reasons to embrace yours."

Maeve's green eyes rested on Pylia when she spoke. She retained her neutral position by the door her hands resting gently on her hips. I think it is best if we separate these two before this situation get worse. She thought to herself as she brushed a strand of her uniquely white hair our of her face. Her crimson lips moved as she began to speak.

"It seems that no matter what we say, this situation will not diffuse. While I certainly do not agree with any violent force being used against Chia, that is certainly uncalled for but I also do not agree with breaking into a room. It is daytime and all the main entrances to the Mistyvale were open and you could have used any of them to reach your room Chia. That being said, with respect to Roggins and his establishment we should end this confrontation before someone gets hurt and further damage ensues."

Maeve then looked to Chia and offered a kind smile before looking to the door where Latishe had moved from, leaving the way clear. Please Chia, for everyone's own good, please leave. I don't want to see anyone get hurt over a silly reason like this...her thoughts drifted as she studied Chia, her expression calm yet concern lay within her eyes.

"You are no more than the dust to me, Chia." Smoldered Latishe.

"I, Latishe of the House of Vaine, whose ancestors witnessed Canas receive the holy words of Lochwar.

I, Latishe of the House of Vaine, who ancestors fought loyally beside many of the Emperors to create the greatest civilisation the world has ever seen.

I, Latishe of the House of Vaine, would I so wish it, could have you thrown into jail and hanged."
Latishe then glanced her baleful eyes at Maeve and Pylia.

"However through the intercedence of Pylia and Maeve, and against my better judgement, if you leave now, there will be no consequences. However if you fail to accept my gracious reprieve, then I swear by the good grace of Lochwar, that action will be taken."

I am sorry Maeve and Pylia. She shought to herself. I have failed to live up to your expections. Latishe then stood with her sword pointed to the ground with both hands on the pommel. The sword was indeed ancient, and curiously along the length of blade was a pictorial coronation with the name of the Emperor written in runes. Latishe uttered a single command, and the runes began to glow like a forge fire. Phazzan, the burning runes proclaimed. Forgive me, Earthmother. Latishe intoned silently.

A spark ignited within Maeve as the situation excalated, causing her eyes to begin to absorb the light within the room. Their irises shrunk to a fraction of their size as their jade colour began to infuse the light. The foreign blood within her veins started to simmer as her strange eyes looked to Latishe and then to Chia. A white light filtered over her body, covering each inch of her with the holy light of Marduk. Her face was calm and placid, her expression unyielding to those around her. Silver strands of hair flew loosely around her face as the power enveloped her body, encasing her in a blanket of shimmering haze. The voice that parted her lips was different from the usual voice that she spoke. It echoed across the room, like the thunder just before a terrible storm. She rose to her full height, towering over both women.

“That is quite enough!”
The strange voice spoke, it’s echoing tone enough to cause commoners to linger near the door, wondering what the commotion is. Maeve spread her hands out between Latishe and Chia, stepping in between them. The paleness of her face had deepened, resembling the ivory of a marble statue.

“By the name of Tharon I will NOT let such pointless violence take place!” Her glowing gaze then shifted to Chia and the voice spoke to her in a firm and commanding tone.

“In the interest of your personal safety, I strongly recommend you depart from this place, now” Her eyes shimmered incandescently in the light, the power of Marduk still crackling through her body. They seem to soften slightly before returning to their steely gaze. “As a friend,” She remarks tersely, “I am asking this of you. We shall speak of this at a later time.”

Pylia watched it all, the displays of female posturing reminding her of birds jealously showing their plumage, each determined not to be outdone by the other. With a deep sigh, the bard began to pick up the broken shards of china, and righting the condition of the room, leaving the three to fight it out amongst themselves. It is amazing how Chia is so good at provoking the worst out of everyone, but I am not biting, not this day.

Her serene expression did not the reflect the disappointment and dismay that she felt. She cleaned up the mess Chia made with graceful movements, her thoughts kept to herself. Chia will never know the damage she caused here today, nor will she care. Pure selfishness. The bard glanced over at the noblewoman and softly intoned a soft prayer. Teshalia, please help Latishe. Do not let the actions of one tiefling ruin all that was begun here, I implore you.
