The Cathedral of Tharon in Caer

Post by Minuvas »

The doors barged open, the seemingly large procession of Exemplars that flanked before Minuvas created a crimson wall of movement as they entered.

Minuvas seemed to carry a slight gimp , as if he had been injured recently. Despite this, he seemed more royal and regal. His armor was again to a ceremonial polish, a newly furnished cloak - made of both fur and fine silk from the Capital hung down to his calves. A gold circlet rounded his head, and fine rings strewn about his fingers.

The entrance girl, Sara, immediately recognized his status and bowed lightly to the side. The fully-plated Exemplar approached "Extinguish that heretical flame before the presence of Father Minuvas. The use of the Flames is strictly forbidden by the clergy unless for lighting purposes.."

Sara, spoke lightly "I...the lighting is poor here, forgive me...I was just..." A Blade was drawn "Extinguish it!" Minuvas quickly lifted his hand "Please, Exemplar...the girl is just a youngling of the Faith.Let us not show such dishonor in the home of the great warrior, many of the Empires finest come here to find peace."
The Exemplar immediately sheathed his blade, there was no sign of displease with the Fathers decision.

He smiled, a warm smile across his face. "Now, darling - could you please point us towards your Parishioner?"

She bowed lightly, and pointed towards the man seemingly leading the crowd.

Minuvas strode down the hall, his armor blending to the Royal red carpet that flowed towards the throne at the front.

Finally, when the procession reached the Parishioner the front two Exemplars parted to the side, and Minuvas strode forward.

He offered no sign of submission , his hands on his thighs "Ahh Brother. I welcome your order and a true building worthy of the Arch-Warrior to Caer"

Minuvas looked about the building, the Exemplars at his sides were like statues. They did not speak, they did not move, they stood at perfect attention.

He looked down as a cat nuzzled against his leg, he shoved it away to the side - the other cat turned around before it got to him.

"I would like to officially welcome you on behalf of the true Faith and the Church of the Empire. As you should know - Farallis sits atop the highest point here, his wisdom shining down on young brother Tharon. A house to Lochwar , and my flock, are further to the north - in Thralls Gate. You will not find Merchants in our temple, but you shall find the strength of the Lord of the God's. I welcome you to come to me at any time, should you need his guidance or our assistance."

Minuvas did not wait for the Parishioner to speak, before he began to march around the Cathedral. Inspecting every nook of the building, the Exemplar formation marching about him. Eventually, he departed the building...but not before placing a few coins into the community chest.

"You failed." Her voice trembled with anger.

"No sister, the shot went true and the priest did fall. They must have resurrected him. There is no other way." The response came through clenched teeth. "You know the strenth of the venom and the bolt sunk deep in his flesh. He stopped breathing before the poison could be neutralized, that I am sure."

"They do not resurrect their fallen, sister, you should know that. If they did, the priest would not be where he is now. Do I have to everything myself, sister?" Cold eyes looked through her as much as at her sister.

"No. The pleasure will be mine. He would see you coming a mile a way. We still need to find out how the priest survived. It took me months to set the placement of the murder hole. All that planning and all that waiting." She frowned with anger of her own lighting her eyes. "Perhaps we should consult the Master."

"No. This is a personal matter. No need to involve the others. Not yet anyway." A twisted smile cut her face. "This is personal and we will have him or we will protect him until we can."

The doors to the Cathedral slammed open as Exemplar Hermur moved in to clear the way for Father Marrent's entrance. Marrent ignored the visitors in the temple and moved with determination towards the high priest of Tharon.

As he passed the many coffins he raised an eyebrow but did not slow his pace. Standing before the high priest he spoke in an angry tone..

I am very disturbed with some of your followers' lack of discipline. I have, on several occasions, encountered a paladin in golden armour, your colours. He speaks in a mocking tone to followers of Lochwar and often spreads lies that border on treachery! I am not sure it is even just one, but I have seen him, or one of them, several times. Our time is dire and we have no room for upstarts like this in our province! Do we?!

Marrent eyed his colleague and continued in a more subtle tone,

I thought your paladins were loyal to the Empire and the pantheon according to the Empire's priests. Make sure you don’t have a traitor amongst your followers. What a shame it would be if the proud Church of Tharon were to appear as traitors and heretics, don’t you think.

Either you deal with this or I will be forced to report this to the watch and to the fleet.

Marrent left as quickly as he came. Not needing to wait for an answer, the message was clear enough.
