This is a link to copyrighted material... should this really be up?
The D20 SRD has all the open gaming stuff, and is more than required for NWN2.

Nice, thanks!
This got me to googling a little bit and I found some good 4E information at this D&D fansite:
http://www.enworld.org/index.php?page=4e
Edit: I understand that 4E books start coming out this month.

ya if the copy right is still in effect we probably shouldn't have it up just to keep the owners of the board out of trouble, but thanks for thinking of us Rob. we know it was all with good intentions.
wow. I hadn't heard they were going to do a 4th ed or 5th if you count 3.5 as really being a 4th like some do.

The owners of forums are in no way responsible for what people post on their boards as long as they don't host the law-infringing material on their server. Links and such are free game.
A certain Awful site (hint hint) has seen countless Cease/Desists and has always come out on top. The Dasarian hosts are not guilty of any crime, Rob is not guilty of any crime. The only person who might be is the guy who scanned all those rulebooks and put them up.
God bless the internet!

Moreover, I advise that Carthage must be destroyed.

Actually, if you download the PDFs on that site, you're also committing a crime.
You know, I don't care when it comes to music, since the music industry is pretty screwed up, but when it comes to books, its a different ballgame. As an aspiring writer, I really don't like seeing people steal published works.
Let me make this clear: please remove the link. Everything in the core books (with the exception of a couple of tables) are in the SRD. Everything else is unusable for NWN2, as the differences between the published things and the game implementation of them is significant.

Actually, I am a musician, I just happen to know how the record companies in the US work. Artists get pennies compared to the companies, and the companies keep contracts based on old standards that benefit only themselves. For instance, there's a breakage surchage that record companies take that's based on the breakage percentage of old vinyl disks, which haven't been used in nearly 20 years. In the present music system, it is the artist and consumer who get screwed, while the company makes out like a bandit.
Frankly, I'd rather pay the artist directly than give a record label in the US any money.
The publishing industry is a bit different, and while author royalties are still smaller than the publishing company, there is a lot more overhead for a book company than a record company... distribution , or instance, is a completely different ballgame, as is production and pretty much everything else.

Information wants to be free.

Ignorance is strength.
*Shrugs, reads something utterly fascinating on p.66 of the DMG*
