This is not the modern day world. D&D can be seen more like the dark ages. Although modern fatasy literature women seems to be accepted as warrors and allowed in combat, racial hatered is very real.

Dwarves hate elves, elves hate dwarves.. Humans doesn't really like anyone. Everyone dislike orcs.. and any man with an unseemly birth defect would likely be considered cursed and put out of his misery for 'the greater good'. Or maybe he was allowed to grow up so he could be regularily stoned by the local populace.

My character would never, ever, trust a drow. Why? Because they are drow. (He would probably distrust any elf with blue/gray skincolor as well. The drow are evil, seducing, baby eating monsters that should be put down before someone gets hurt.

Take the scene from when you meet Viconia in Baldurs Gate, that is how the usual treatment of drow would be in the Forgotten realms. (They burn her at the stake, while being happy that they are doing a good deed.)

If someone even claimed drow could be good, he would not be taken seriously at all. He would most likely be cast out of any social circles.
No one is disputing this. Just making sure that others know that some might have perceptions or character knowledge other then the ignorant character populous. Not every PC is a level 2 country bumpkin fighter with 8 int.

In general though, sure Drow rightfully shouldnt be trusted. That's just common sense =P

It be nice the have the Dev's chime in on this, but I don't believe that Dasaria supports the Drow Pantheon (Lolth, and all the others). Those gods came from the Forgotten Realms setting and are pretty much unknown in Dasaria from everything I've seen.

das doesn't have the FR pantheon. We have our own. Drow were know in Das 1. They were mean, nasty, and evil and the Queen declared that they were to be killed on sight. (Except for few, few exceptions.) Under Varanite rule *shrugs* The general populace would still not trust or like drow IMO. Why are we still discussing drow?

Because, apparently, only Very Bad People actually try to make playing a Drow as difficult as it should be.

My question is, can I kill a drow or teifling on sight, the way I would a Giant Spider or Gelatinous Cube? And if so, is there any reward for this?

No. See server rules.

PvP should involve some aspect of RP, kind of like the pushing and shoving before the brawl :)

Well, if it was roleplayed out, it wouldn't break server rules for grief PKing.
However, it does break ingame laws and you'd be held up for a murder.

I think hating a drow/tiefling and roleplaying it out is finely on RP, doesn't need some bar fight for that.

Only if i can kill normal people on sight because they maybe think they can kill me on sight :P

Seriously tho... just try and RP.. Silliest moment i ran into was meeting three goons underground, who immediately declared me a demon drow and decided to try killing me.

Very little rp involved there..

Hey guys I'm not a griefer, everything I talk about doing in-game is under the assumption that it's RPed.

It would be: "Lo, a monster from the Underdark! And standing in the middle of the Mistyvale Inn having a beer, by God! Someone quick, call the guard! Get the women and children out. I'll see if I can hold it off!"

not: "*thwack* PWND LOOSER"

But, thanks for the response. If drow are considered protected by law in Dasaria, then my character wouldn't do it. Question answered.

Er... from what I know of Drow... if you *don't* try to kill normal people on sight, you're playing wrong.

well yes, I understand your not a Griefer Hugh.. but even in DND you wouldn't handle drow that way.
Theirs a good post on the wizards forums somewhere by someone that pointed out that most "feared" races would generally be left alone with most people just wanting them to get away as swiftly as possible, and only coming out with pitchforks and torches when theirs actual provocation.

In addition this isnt FR.. so how some things work here might be different.. I understand that the drow were allies with one side at somepoint.. and that the Varanites employed demons at another.. which might explain the large Tiefling population (A sad result of the nessecity of summoning demons)

Some families might even have gotten compensation or their be a government branch setup to keep such families quiet or not to expose the Varanites involvement with the summoning of demons..

No, you would. The only reason drow aren't handled that is because most of them are player characters.

Yes and no. Varana in Dasaria I had a lot of situations where the left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing. It's also been 50 years since then.
