That wasn't what you originally quoted, and what you highlighted doesn't say nothing will ever be done. Currently we are more concerned with getting actual new content out there, rather than nerfing stuff. You have the ruleset to back you up, and there are a number of options to deal with pickpockets until a more robust solution can be implemented.
It's just a game...

No argument from me, except for one thing.

If you see them, dealing with them isn't a problem.

I have one character who will make your life miserable (my rogue), another who will kill you outright (my warlock) for daring to touch her person in any way, and yet others who will take thieves straight to the guards (my fighter and my ranger).

Of those, only my ranger and my rogue will actually see you.

The skill just isn't practical for my other characters. What that means is that I need or prefer (whatever the case may be) to put skills in other categories, like concentration and spellcraft with my warlock, for example.

I mean, other than bullets in every inventory spot you have, or having your inventory screen up and hoping you have a 20 inch wide screen monitor like I do (least I think its wide screen), what else can a person do? Train every single character they have in spot, and get Able Learner to reduce the skill costs?

I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but I'm just incredibly frustrated, and that frustration is preventing me from even THINKING about entering the game because of however many people that are ruining it for everyone else. I know I'm not the only one annoyed by this skill as a whole.

I understand the priorities, and where they're probably at.. but, this seems like a growing problem.. and if nothing gets done soon (and yes, please God let the DM Client get finished soon..) I'm just afraid it'll be a problem that even you guys can't deal with.

My two gold, for what its worth.

Its easy to deal with this problem, actually. All they have to do is disable PvP and its solved. Thing is, theres only like 1 or 2 people complaining about it, so its not a large problem yet. On other servers that I know (mostly NWN 1 servers and I think 1 or 2 NWN 2 servers) PvP *has* become so large an issue that the devs there have to completely disabled PvP. I just hope this won't be the case for Dasaria.

Here's my question to all of you. If someone picks you pocket out and the street and you dont catch them, do you honestly expect to get your stuff back?

A mugging is another good example. Its a robbery where someone passed their spot check and saw the theft taking place, but gets robbed anyway.

If someone really wanted to be vicious they could attack your character and get you to where your bleeding, then just pickpocket you the whole time while you are bleeding out. In life this happens to people every day. Here it may be considered griefing.

Also Vahene if this one skill is having this much of an effect on you playing the game you really need to think about your priorities. Because ultimately items and money are worthless and you can get it back in short order. But seriously stop acting like such a victim in all of this. It's just a game.
I'm always right. I'm also a jerk. It's not my fault you can't get over the latter to see the former.

Hurray for Me!

Topic titles are like turn signals. They aren't for your benefit, but for the people around you.

Gee, that means that Michelle and I must be the two people complaining.

No one else? Heh, many people don't like the amount of Pick Pocketing that is going on in game, and that doesn't automatically equate to PvP unless YOU as the PLAYER chooses that it does.

PvP is an active choice the player makes based on actions the player sees in game, when they are ROLE PLAYING as their character. You CAN choose to RP instead of PvP. Trust me, I've done it.

Since this is a full PvP server, and has been historically, I don't see it changing.

While Rhode has talked about this tactic IC with another thief he has only tried it once. "I" would never rob someone blind while they are dieing but "I" might take one item from them. Rhode would rob them blind as they were dieing but then what is the fun in that ...got to go

It isn't about getting the stuff back.

Have you ever been mugged? A mugging is someone pointing something (knife, gun) threatening at you and saying "Give me all your money (or valuable items, whatever the case may be)". You, the victim, is afraid of being harmed, and you either do what the mugger says or you don't, and risk getting hurt.

If you put this into Dasaria or D&D terms, the victim doesn't have to worry about a spot check because someone has a freaking knife to their throat. Your analogy doesn't hold water with me.

Gee, no one would do that, would they? Not on this server.

We have a group of upstanding citizens who wouldn't dare take advantage of such an obvious exploit.

Maybe you should grow up and stop throwing out personal attacks?

Take your own advice.

It is just a game. If none of us had anything to worry about in or out of game, we'd be pretty boring people.

In response to everyone getting a bit too emotional about all of this. I'd suggest stepping back for a few minutes, taking a deep breath, and thinking long and hard on how nothing will get done if this just turns into a flame war.
