The Dasarian Provincial Mages Guild Proposal
I don't think anything says loyalty like a shrine to the patron deity of the Empire, and a statue engraved with "This hall is dedicated to Marcus and the Empire. Varana eternal.".
But I will make an effort to include more loyalist paraphernalia. And I do plan on establishing good relations with the Church of Lochwar, but that will of course take time.
EDIT: The High Arcanist won't really be addressing anyone coming through the door. The Council assembles in front of him or her, and takes their seats. People who wish to view the meeting can feel free to stand either behind that low wall (that was the idea I had in mind) or in any other place around the chamber, bar on that platform the High Arcanist speaks from. The Phoenix Guard will prevent anyone wandering up onto that platform, so I don't see any problems really, but I could flip it around, for security reasons. I'm also planning on just having one door, currently there are two to keep the symmetry of the place.

Here is a basic idea I had after reading everything posted here.
The pentacle is of course magic, the diamond shape...4 sides... represents Lochwar/Ineania/Coloth/Farallis, do notice that the 4 elemntal aspects of the pentacle (air earth fire and water) touch the 4 sides of the diamond. The 5th element (spirit) shows a sun representing law and direction for the intention of said guild.
the flame in the center, represents the Phoenix Guards taht protect the "heart" of the guild and the people. I didn't add any colors, so if this is acceptable to the guiild as the symbol, I can always add them since it is in layers.

That is excellent
It's simple, but has meaning, it fits the theme, and is pleasing on the eyes. That's pretty much all the criteria I had.
Looks like we have a symbol.
Oh, and as for colours, I'm thinking blue and gold, simply because it's a fairly common combination, and is quite appealing. Honestly though, the symbol doesn't 'need' to be coloured, I quite like it how it is, but if you can somehow include the colours and retain the awesome-ness, then we'll definitely use it.

As i understand it, flame is generally dispised by the empire, because they don't like tyrak. The flame in the symbol could condemn the guild as heretics, so i wouldn't put it there. Other than that minor detail, this is a good symbol. I would still like to see more candidates before the actual decision is made ok? Don't rush it folks, we have plenty of time. Here is a basic idea I had after reading everything posted here.

BTW, the name "phoenix guard" has a certain referance to fire, which might also cause problems.

Red and gold would be an easy changeover. I honestly didn't really think colours were that big of a deal initially, I mean, head to the hill in the T&C district and check out the government buildings, there's very little consistency. And even on the inside (of the Guard building) there's not much focus on particular colours, which leads me to believe that it's not that important outside of the churches and probably the military.
We'll see what other people involved would like, and make a decision. Hopefully we'll get our own forum at some point, and that should make discussions easier, and polls a possibility.
Also, the first phase of recruitment is over, the current 12 or so people are the first lot of members (and are all Mage in rank), and will be the only ones involved until we start 'regular' recruitment (recruiting people as apprentices, and then having them work their way through the ranks). Twelve people is probably enough to get the faction going, and we can begin early IG recruiting once we are 'official'.

Yes, i think the name "phoenix guard" will cause some serious problemsTyrak - "Lord of the Burning Lands"
(Girru - "Lord of the Purifying Flame, The Merciful Fire")
(Outlawed)
Alignment: Lawful Good
Holy Symbol: Fire-enwrapped Axe
Favorite Colors: Scarlet
Favorite Weapon: Battle Axe
Animal: Phoenix
EDIT:
We might want to keep our distance to the outlawed gods if we're going to keep good relations with the church of lochwar. Thus we might want to avoid the flame in the symbol.DasWiki wrote:In the Varanite Pantheon, Tyrak is an outlawed God. While Dasarians viewed him as the upholder of Justice and Goodness, Varana see's Tyrak as a thankless and unlawful god. Most Citizens of the Empire know little more than that he is Outlawed, and that he has the desire to cause upheaval to the Universal Order set down by Lochwar and Etoth. So despised is this god by The Church of Lochwar, that the use of fire in any other way aside from visibility is considered forbidden amongst its order.

The sun might also cause problems. I was under the impression that the guild was supposed to adapt to the ways of the political powers. Maybe this can be discussed further in the factions own forums (or here, i don't careRel - "Lord of the Blinding Light"
