That is my personal choice as well. I like to know what resources are used on my comp and I usually have my windows running at 120-130 MB default. Even though I have 2GB of RAM.

I have been practicing this since the early days of BBS and Earthlink internets. I got burnt only 2-3 times since then and because I downloaded something I shouldn't have.

Windows updates are very important however!.

I tend to rely on McAfee corporate level products, but that comes from working for them. I don't put much faith in the consumer stuff, but the corporate AV product is good. And SO much cleaner than Norton. As a general rule, I factor in the time for a registry scrub as soon as I hear someone wants me to get Norton off their machines.

There are, however, better free Anti-Spyware products out there. I tend to use a combination of SpyBot S&D and AdAware.

Alright, I cleaned up my system, installed Windows Defender, got rid of Nortin and got AVG. Everything runs fine and my internet connection is running at full speed.

But the lag is still there. Theres a 2-20 second delay on any action when i'm logged onto dasaria, and I died to a wolf because I couldn't cast cure light wounds. This isn't like Video delay either. This is like my charcter is standing there and all the animation are working... but nothing is doing anything.

EDIT: I think it actually has something to do with patch 1.03. I had no lag whatsoever and everything ran perfectly fine untill my first log in after the patch. Now it feels like I'm on dial-up. If I can't fix it I might have to call it quits, the lag I'm getting is game-breaking.

Actually, today when loo... er... adventuring (and looting!) the bugbear caves, Lok'Tok, Fox and I experienced lag pretty consistently as well.

At some point I even made the joke that it seems Wyvern's connection is about to bust too. : D

After the hilarious HD-busting incident, that is.

Same here.. Much lag in the bug bear caves..
Lag elsewhere too.

Lots of delay in text showing up...

More lag here, too...about a second between end of casting animation and the eldritch blast going off.

I also encountered a new bug where I couldn't target a wererat at all. Just a bit of a problem, since it had sneak attack...

Part of it could have been the restart script going up. It took about 45 minutes to restore everything to the way it was supposed to be and get the backups back into operation.

Any longer than that though, or if it is still happening now, and there could be a problem.

The lag has only gotten worse. I'm seeing close to a 2 second delay between input, animation and actual effect.

Well... at least it wasn't just me.

I would say it's defiantly a problem at this point... but I have no idea of the cause.

I was just fighting the wererats not too long ago. They were stretchy, and impossible to target. Death was the only outcome unfortunately.

Well, for all the stuff I told you, I am getting the lag spikes as well :) Well at least your comp is clean, hopefully you don't have to reboot every day....

The nwnserver.exe was up for 5 hours before the lag really started becoming intolerable. I have brought just brought the server down. We are going to apply a quick update and she will be back online shortly.

I'm getting many sub-100 ms ping times to other servers but Dasaria's is currently so large it won't display...and now it's back up and it is at 104...hrm...weird...and now it's back to laggy again.

Same here. Something really bizare happened with patch 1.03 or an update, or mabey even the server fix after the meltdown.

Tried to log in and it took 5 minutes to load Mistyvale, and everything was locked in lag when it finally loaded. I just decided to call it a night.

the lag seems to happen after the server has been up for around four hours... out of nowhere WHAM everything's crawling (or completely petrified).

p.s. please restart it! lol
