I haven't had one item stolen from neither of my characters.... yet. And I have been playing none stop from the start of Das2. Where do you find these thieves?

I've had a lot of people try and "brush up" against my characters.. and i always move away then. But it's kind of sad to constantly have to be that paranoid and suspect *everyone* even while just standing still for a minute while selling things to the store.

I have seen that "brush up" tatic and I hate it. Its more like a purse snatching. They run up bump into you and then run away. Only a fool wouldn't suspect them of trying to pick pocket you but unless you actually catch them the only thing you can RP about is the fact that they bumped into you.

There is nothing "sneaky" about a purse snatching.

Hmmm maybe we should just RP it as an attempted purse snatching. Just chase the would be snatcher down and beat the snot out of them.

Perhaps I Exaggerated...There isn't a thief around EVERY corner. It's just that it's virtually impossible to detect a 'good' thief, and some of the thieves on the server think it's ok to chain-steal from people. If they 'pick' you you can lose 1/4 your inventory in 2 minuets.

There's also a couple of low level grievers running around who may/may not succeed every time but they built their character around the snatch and grab and they do it alot. Especially at offtimes.

Does anyone know if flipping a thief to hostile boosts the sleight of hand DC to 30? It theoretically should, according to the manual.

You know, mages wouldn't have had it cast all the time had it not been that every evil mage and rogue would come sneaking about at all times. If they'd laid off the invis or sneaking and found other ways of making trouble, we might have forgotten it occasionally.
The reason we had to sneak about was cos everyone stayed in town, and being EoS meant serious lack of knowing what was going on, so being a spy induced sneaking to get past the bloomin guards.
Also to garner RP you had to know what was going on in there - ie: if you were sending a tell about there being noise or disturbance at the gate (for example) you didn't want to do it when everyone was already involved in something else and so thrust yourself upon them, as it were. There were other ways to make trouble, but not a lot that didn't pee people off.

I played a rogue to lvl 20 and he never pickpocketed.
I don't feel any shame, I won't apologise

We can try to test that if you'd like. :)

I know in NWN 1 flipping them to hostile made a difference at least where I played it did. So if I am in town and I see someone get caught pickpocketing I turn them to hostile.

I've been pick pocketed twice. The first was when the server first went up and there were people were running wild everywhere. Oh well. The second was when a halfling took from Zad's pockets. Then Zad showed him his sword. The halfling gave it back and cried. Worked out fine.

That's not to say I don't believe there can be problems.

Off OPs topic: had my warhammer picked yesterday and never saw the guy so it does happen occasionally.

On topic: True Seeing did not allow me to see through a level 15 assassins stealth. He vanished right in front of me several times. Might be bugged atm.

Stealth in general is all kinds of whacked out atm.

Like J4 said its pretty easy to script. According to the core rules, true seeing shouldn't offer any bonus to spot or listen. It only allows you to see past illusions or illusion type effects.

Off the top of my head, I would probably implement it to give the caster the following (and these can all be scripted):

Ultravision
Darkvision
SeeInvisibility
Immunity to Blindness, Phantasmal Killer, Color Spray and Weird (or just the entire illusion school)
+10 to Search checks (to help find traps/secret doors)

But of course, testing all the side effects is quite a project. I'll add this my proposal of spell fixes.

I can totally understand alot of your peoples concerns about theft but that is not why I have suggested a nerf for this spell. Here is my case and point. My main char is an Assassin, of course haveing to have the base class rogue, but that is where the simalirites end between the two class's. My assassin ahbors thieves and there ilk after all he doesnt make his money through petty theft but through your death  That being said, there is only one other assassin on the server that I know of vs all of the casting class's ie clerics/mages/druids. If this spell wasnt nerfed it would completly imo nullify the want and or need to play anything but the a fore mentioned class's. So yes I understand your concern however I do not think it is "balanced" in regards to people who play rogues with no intent on thieving.

And yes this is totally a view based on pvp, but still to totally negete one class's ability with the use of a single 6th level spell is just imo a little overpowered.
