Bella is part my first rogue Brenna and part pirate queen. She has my own love of the ocean.
My newest comes from an idea from a book that I read about female sects of worship, with some of my Catholic schoolgirl nightmares ( I went to HS that shared grounds with a convent to give a clue) mixed in.

My original concept for Terya Pyrobi is a mix of the ranger two weapon fighting and a geisha dancer. There are two prestige classes in DnD (though not in NWN2) that could enhance how I see my character, the Dervish or the Tempest. The original build of Terya Pyrobi was that of a Ranger-Tempest, although I hadn't gotten that far. (With the Tempest class, pretty much all penalties for two-weapon fighting disappear as well as they get a skill called "two-weapon spring attack." I don't remember too much detail about the Dervish class, which is also based on two weapons and high amounts of movement) In the NWN2 campaign I built her as a pure ranger. Another couple concepts I had of the dancing fighter type comes from the games Samurai Warriors and Dynasty Warriors. Both games have a character that uses two-weapon style, although more claw like weapons, one of which is obsessed with making the battlefield a "thing of beauty." She views her skill with blades and going into battle as a dance. That part is mostly inspired by "dancing with spears" from the Aiel in Wheel of Time.
Other concepts to come.

Phelan Almaran springs directly from the concept of a person who is trying to live up to their heroes and family expectations. For those unaware, Phelan's grandfather, Falson Almaran, was my main character in Dasaria 1 and I think qualifies as one of the last heroes of Dasaria. As referenced in my short story, introduction of him, he's inherited the family gift (in other words, he's a sorcerer), and wants to do good deeds, help people, etc. In other words, he's an idealistic, sheltered, youth. Which was the complete opposite of his grandfather.
So in short, a youthful idealist trying to live up to his family traditions.

That so much reminds me of the The Tale of Sir RobinInziladun wrote:Well I tried to convince my friend to play on Dasaria with me and the idea of a Bard-Paladin duo just sounded fun... After a couple days he finnally decided to give Dasaria a go. I came up with the idea to be his Squire and then it just sort of took off from there.
I've just found inspiration for my next characterSo, each of the knights went their separate ways.
Sir Robin rode north, through the dark forest of Ewing, accompanied by his
favorite minstrels.
Minstrel: song:
Bravely bold Sir Robin
Brought forth from Camelot.
He was not afraid to die,
Oh, brave Sir Robin!
He was not at all afraid to be killed in nasty ways.
Brave, brave, brave Sir Robin.
He was not in the least bit scared to be mashed into a pulp.
Or to have his eyes gouged out, and his elbows broken!
To have his kneecaps split, and his body burned away
And his limbs all hacked and mangled, brave Sir Robin.
His head smashed in and his heart cut out,
And his liver removed and his bowls unplugged,
And his nostrils raked and his bottom burnt off,
And his peni--
Robin: That's...That's, uh... That's enough music for now, lads. It looks
like there's getting work afoot.
Three headed knight: HALT!!!
Voice over: YES!! It was the dreaded Three Headed Knight, the fiercest
creature for *yards* around!
For second.... after second..., Robin held his own, but the
onslaught proved too much for the brave knight. Scarcely was
his armor damp, when Robin suddenly, dramatically, changed his
tactics!
Minstrel:.........................................Robin:
Brave Sir Robin ran away. ..............No!
Bravely ran away away.... ..............I didn't!
When Danger reared its ugly head,
He bravely turned his tail and fled ...No!!
Yes brave Sir Robin turned about ....I didn't!
And gallantly chickened out..
Bravely taking to his feet
For a very brave retreat
Bravely bravely bravely bravely ........I never did!
Bravely bravely bravely bravely ........All lies!
Bravely bravely brave Sir Robin! .......I never!

Sion came about from a talk with a friend of mine, we were both looking for a NWN2 server, and trying to figure out what we were going to play there. My friend wanted pretty badly to play a tiefling rogue, getting into all sorts of mischief, even if not maliciously. I on the other hand wanted to dabble in the Arcane and settled for a pure wizard, something I hadnt played before.
We decided to make the characters with knowledge of each other, and my mind started spinning a story of a young apprentice mage dabbling in his master's books accidentally causing a spell/ritual to backfire, the result was he summoned Danie, his Tiefling "ward". The two of them have had a very interesting relationship to each other since: Sion trying to keep Danie out of trouble and feeling quite guilty about having ripped her from her former life, Danie of course using that guilt to leverage Sion into trouble he had intended to stay out of... *grins* poor guy.

Latishe is based on Servalan , a character from Blakes 7. If anyone has seen Blakes 7, I hope you would agree although the sets and effects are cheap as, the actors and storyline is first class. It is really the best of British! I personally find Servalan a rich, complex and versatile personality. Jacqueline Pearce plays Servalan perfectly, exuding feminine power, vulnerability and deadly intent.

Here is the very very very first inspirations to all my chars.
Kai is inspired by the assassin in the tv show Lexx. And by the dilemmas of wanting to do good. And terror in knowing that you have done so much bad.
Mandrake is inspired by all those brutes out there. And a book about a soldiers life at the west front during wwII.
Caliliad is inspired by Minuvas and the only good thing religion has to offer: hope.
Dragonfly Snowell is inspired by childish curiosity and a naive faith in the fun and purpose of all things.
Al'She'RhuSha is inspired by the life of a bastard(half drow/half sun) and the intellect of a hunted bastard. But mainly by Dexter in the tv show Dexter!
Fuxial Halexx is inspired by any and all happy go lucky rogue-types out there, and cosa nostra. Think Morell.
Sythe is inspired by the Japanese assassin in the tv show Thief. And stoicism combined with an urge to prevail as a subordinate!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JmoLbU_pYQThat so much reminds me of the The Tale of Sir Robin...
Insanity has been kind to me, but no longer.
Sirius cropped up when I first played BG. Can't remember where the name came from (the surname I mean, the first name is fairly obvious - I'll give you a hint, it's bright).
I had always liked arcane casters, and originally Sirius was a chaotic good elven sorceror, but wound his way to a neutral good human wizard - a mix of a few characters, but with a serious degree of arrogance and zeal. I went with human, because, honestly, I hate elves. At some point during high school I developed an inexplicable anti-Tolkien mindset, I think it was after I read the books for the second time (This is probably blasphemous to some of you
).
I took a bit of inspiration Khelben Arunsun before I created the NWN1 version of Sirius - and since then he has had his mind set on the greater good, and so, is willing to do things which are questionable, but which work towards an ultimately "good" end. EDIT: Let me be clear, I don't read D&D books or anything, I just read about him in a bunch of places, and liked him.

Oh, why not...
I wanted something simple to mesh well with the world that I was still learning about. For me, rogues are the most adaptable class and among the least difficult to play personality-wise.
Of course, by the time that I got through the character model selection, there was already an elaborate background story making me dizzy as it was unwinding in my head. I get like that...
Chia was supposed to be a completely different character than she is right now. It is just one of those characters that look at your intentions, snort loudly, gathers them in a brick weighted sack and toss it all together in the first encountered body of deep water, subsequently strolling off their own merry way.
I aimed at a study of a paranoic outcast, and got an obnoxious loudmouth with a penchant for casual chaos.

I don't generally like to read, I have to admit I've not read more than maybe 2-3 books that were unrelated to something I did - that is to say education or job related.
I normally start by trying to find a name that I like the sound of then I go from there. I like to "free-style" and see where it takes me. It's an approach I take to building for example or when I'm creating something. I have a very vague notion of what I want and then I fill in the details as I'm actually doing it.
I suppose my character was pretty much a mixture of who I am and what I'd like to have been had I actually been that character in that world. There's the notion of the Arthurian Knight in my character. But other times I just start with a name and go from there, like with my latest character (which I played yesterday a bit for the first time in months).
