Pilan Shadowleaf

Elf

Monk 3
Cleric 1

I took Air and Heal domains. The boost to healing and uncanny dodge give me some really good survivability. My STR is a little low (16) so I seem to miss a lot, or the roll mechanics are biased :P

I crit in the teens and have cleave which can make short work of a group of goblins. I also have nice buffs from the cleric.

I can't wait for my next 2 levels of monk. If I only hat sneak attacks :D

Just to clarify, I don't have anything against taking only 1 level of any class, per se. I just think this particular build--the 1 Monk/19 Druid--is too powerful. I can't think of another combo where you take 1 level in something and get a +6 to +10 or so (depending on your stats and buffs) bonus to much of anything.

I think delaying the bonus until 3rd level is a good choice, because it doesn't hurt the pure or mostly pure monks, except a teeny bit in the first two levels. Also, it doesn't end up gimping the Monk/Druid build very much in the end: a 3 Monk/17 Druid can still cast 9th level spells.

Anyway this isn't the place for such discussions, and I kind of doubt they'll make the change, anyway.

About seeming to miss a lot: one thing most people don't realize is that if your "main" class is a medium BAB class, and you add 1 level of another BAB class, you actually take a hit to attack bonus!! That's because Medium BAB starts at +0 at level 1, and the system takes each class and sums the attack bonus, not each type of class.

I hope that's clear...I didn't realize that it worked this way at first. For instance, a character that's 1 Warlock / 1 Rogue still has a BAB of 0. Note that a 4 Warlock / 16 Rogue, for instance, will have a BAB of +15, but a 1 Warlock / 19 Rogue adds up to only +14.

This is the payback for Multi-classing medium classes to get those nifty abilities. To get the full benefit one needs to multiclass in multiples of 4.

As for the Monk1/Druid19 build. I agree it is an exploit. However if someone can justify it within the context of the Dasarian campaign (and convince the DM's), then perhaps they should be allowed to play it.

Not sure if its been said, but monk/sorc/rdd could work for that.

Though you won't be getting dev crits on nwn2, yet at least.. afaik it is still an epic feat, and personally, I hope they don't put it in the expansion(s).

Pure Monks are my personal favorites...though Monk 16/Fighter 4 or Barbarian 4 are also pretty spiffing.

Barbarian/Monk would be a bit hard to do due the alignment restrictions

However I believe one of the 'Complete' series of books published by WotC have options for non-lawful Monks.

I am really enjoying the monk/cleric build.

I'm ready to do some harder stuff now with a group.
