PvP is a long-standing tradition in Dasaria. Since I have played here, I have seen all manner of it: Arena tournements, small skirmishes, large-scale battles, duels and assassinations. I've seen PvP that was expected to happen and stuff that came out of nowhere between allies. I've had some hideous defeats and thrilling victories. I've also gotten pissy at people for little reason and had others misunderstand and get angry with me. Luckily, those instances have been really rare.

The campaign has always had warring factions and crime. Power-struggles are an integral part of a story. Politics often become violence. PvP is a fun part of this game, so long as everyone is a good sport about it. Another big part of PvP is making sure your character's violence is legal(in additon to adhering to server rules), or that they can get away with it, or that they are prepared to face the consequences. The persistant in Dasaria's Persistant World is representative of the fact that memories are long, and our characters actions have consequences. This adds reality and sometimes, creates history.

The best way, or rather my preferred way to state the intention of PvP is to set your potential opponent to Hostile. Very little else is necessary, other than your character having a definate reason to be engauging another. That reason could be very simple or very complex, but the DM might ask about it, so just have an honest one.

One thing PvP here really taught me: Sometimes, your character's hated opponent might be one of the nicest people on the server. Just be cool. It's more important to talk to each other after a fight rather than before.

I tend to agree with you here. My very first Dasarian pvp encounter I ran into, made me break all server rules, but through out /tells we were able to work it out with the other party and became good gaming buddies now. I have learned a great deal about D&D and lore from the person I killed (or zerged). :o

I think having a common sense and ability to communicate your reasons could solve most of the problems. Most of the folks here are mature enough to do so, even the younger folks who don't have as much life experience as some of us, older farts.

Yeah and us youngins don't dotter aimlessly. But all in all we are all friends here. Right?

If you're feeling angry, take a step away from the keyboard, think about it, wait ten seconds and come back. If you feel you were beaten unfairly, talk to the "accused" and work it out. Nothing makes you look like more like a foolish fool than making a public remark like:

KAz DoumB head! Kaz was like totatlly haxing my megabits.
The largest wound will come from those you considered friends.

Its like setting it up so you can grief players who play drow without consequence. I mean, if your a known drow killer, you kill drow onsight, isn't it prefectly reasonable the drow char (ic wise) would know this and would kill you on sight as well?
My Drow rogue has a number of players set to KoS because of their anti-Drowing ways. Don't get to do it often, being a level 7 rogue, but... every so often one of those KoS chars will find himself in a bad spot - injured, in a tough fight... and a pissed off Drow rogue charging at him with short swords drawn...
Drow are best unseen, unheard, and unleashed. ((Cain - Drow Rogue))

Want to pet my spider? It bites. Hard. ((Janine - Human Druid))

This is my last reply here.
I dont believe PK should happen unless for drastic reasons. But i would atleast ask for others to put me to disliked before attacking.

Part two of this, if you are Drow, please contact me.

Thank you for your input everyone. I see this is something that is open for interpretation server wide. i will continue with my normal play of RP hostility and only fight PC's when attacked to the point of run away when can.

For those of you who have read the thread from the begining, know the initial thread was a scenerio that was settled just after it happened and was resolved at that point. It was only used to promt response. "old School" said it best, PK sometimes happens. just keep it in fun everyone. Atleast that is how i took it. if i miss state that please let me know. Also every one please feel free to PM me about how i play or any other reason. I love the game, and love RP. The problem i have is lag and my fat fingers make it impossible for me to type fast. i played pencil and paper D&D for a long time (im old and dont want to say my age) and loved RP during it. just have a hard time learning to Rp in a fast manner online.

Thanks again everyone for your input.

Ps.. Crone if you read this you better respond!!! Harper
