I think whatever scenario is being debated has been blown way out of proportion by now. Let it go. Just because someone says KOS to you does not make you KOS to all npcs.

Unless it is your very first day in the city- people know who you are. Period. By sight at least, and the easiest way to communicate that is your name.

And lastly, the point is only this.

In character actions have in game consequences. You can change the world.

It is not a massive game where no one noticed you have killed that npc guard 50 times for exp. There are witnesses to your actions here, NPCs do count. World will get to someone in authority and actions should be taken against the murderer.

If I log into a world as a new player and see people killing npcs or players in the streets, I would leave.

I apologize for my statement saying Slice177/monook should move along,i have witnessed "his" in game behavior and this quote sums up his WoW mentality pretty well.

From what I read Manook only attacked because he was set hostile. Remember that she thought you were stealing from her, setting you hostile makes it alot harder to pick pocket her. And I can see how you would think "Oh poopsmackles, she's going to throw down now."

If someone sets you hostile, it means they are suspicious and angry towards you. It does not mean that a fight is going to happen, think of it as a: STEP. BACK. NOW. warning.

I anticipated this would happen, but I can't believe someone actually said for me to leave the server, ALL I wanted, was to know if I was and enemy of state for killing a guard I didn't kill

I was in the situation where I felt if I logged on I would be killed, Killed on sight KoS I didn't want to log on and die, I wanted to see what was going on and after the DM said they can't issue KoS, then I was done, I stopped posting because I had my question answered. But people keep posting and it's turning into rage. If I was KoS I would have still logged on, BUT I didn't want to log on and be killed by PC's that THOUGHT I was KoS when I wasn't, I don't want to die because of some misunderstanding.

As for my "you-dont-know-my-name gimmick." Fine I understand, didn't mean to imply 100% what that means, But I did RP it, I had a complete change of clothes along with no helmit, and alibi, I was a completly different' person, what I was saying is this

Although I looked completely differen't as well as the sound of voice, everything, they pressured me to get me in trouble, which I feel is unfair, They KNEW it was me so they forced rp on me until they got me for what I did. How is that fair? I can never get away with anything; I can understand being punished for somethings, but in a situation like this that I can't even rp out of because the gaurds are so power hungry to get everyone, even for something as simple as a BUFF on a theif, which yes big troube in cear but if I can't get away with anything as an evil player because the guards are so sought on getting every criminal they see I feel it's not fair.

Thats all I was saying. I just want for forget the whole incident, from a theif to a probable enemy of state is getting out of hand, I'll see where it goes from here

I have to say that I think the guards and the holy persons are all doing an awesome job, both roleplay vise and atmosphere vise (well I guess its the same). I have not had any RL irritation regarding them at all.

Good job and good times!!.. and now get back out there and make the streets of Dasaria "safe" :)

And here is just something for the river of ideas:

When I first started playing Das 2 and saw "live" guardsmen or holy persons, I thought it was just a players creative name. And for a short while I was pondering on whether anyone could claim a title and then roleplay it (like give myself the title emperor and stroll the streets demanding your firstborn). But to my great joy I became wiser :)
I think it could be fun and maybe spare some confusion among new players if the guards have a note or ID badge to show, which says something like rank and name?
And maybe the guards could have writs to pass out to players. Example:
A player1 is KOS or EOS(not quite sure of the difference yet) and then a player2(with a writ for player1) kills player1. Afterwards player2 passes the writ to player1 to show to the guards and everyone as proof of his punishment?

Hmmm.. hope you all get the idea .. well, anyways I have had many good times assisting the guards.. or talking myself out of situations when in trouble :)
"Pain or damage don’t end the world, nor despair or f*cking beatin’s. The world ends when you’re dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man — and give some back."

Witness

Post by seethings »

to the Cleric... just cos you take your armour off (as you did i saw) does not mean a guard will not recognise you... your build, demeanor, facial features are similar. At least they might be suspicious enough to ask you questions. Your char before that though, interferred and was civily disobediant to the guard, then aided and abbetted escape from the law...

to the falsely accused theif.. i have no problem with evil char killingguards... be aware though that like the real world... this puts you in dangerous situation for the rest of your interaction with the state. As i witnessed your interaction with Kartina... i do think you bought a lot of it on yourself. You refused to co operate, and you drew a weapon. Then you fled the scene, tis like shouting i am guilty. Think of it like the real world. A cop pulls you over, now you may think you were not speeding and this is unfair, but you dont pull a gun. You give your name and you obey the civil laws. Later you curse and spit behind there backs and if you are a real criminal you can get revenge slyly. If not a criminal you might complain to the superior officer or to the state through formal channels.

Alternatively if your char is a real bad arse you may stab the guard/cop to death on the spot... and then get gunned down by the other guards.. or esacpe... hehheh

As a witness i do think you overreacted when accused... (part of the baggage of playing a halfling -- deal with it... my orc gets abuse all the time)... you could have RP out of it by taking your time... demanding politly to see the evidence etc. Given that halflings are suspicious and often accused, mind who you bump into on this server... ALSO.. keep in mind other people use halflings as bait... ie they thieve with a human or a hidden char when the halfling is near by, then point the finger and the halfling and get away... Watch ya back

I imagine you were just caught by surprise as you had just arrived fresh from the INN.. and freaked...thats what it looked like to me.

Like I said, or think I said. I had a helmet, full armor on, stone skin, and even magnus strength or w/e it's called (Makes me a giant) which to me would make me compared to someone in robes, with a face, smaller, with a scent, normal voice, a FACIAL feature, a new build of body, and how can he judge my character's behavior and match with a cleric that ran from nowhere and casted a single spell then ran away? There is no way I could be accused as someone like taht, someone who is in no way related. Besides that, besides my reason for disguise and getting out of a writ the guards wanted to give me so badly that I felt i had no choice but to run or take the writ, and i'd rather run then take a writ for something i should have been able to rp'd out of, but like i said, i feel the guards were sought too strongly on this simple thing. I never said, or felt that the guards are bad at their job or anything, they do fine, but this time it was different to me, my opinion,

They put hostile on, with intent of attack, he drew his sword to protect himself (although i don't remembering him drawing his sword at all). How would you feel if you walked into a person and a cop aims his gun at you and starts saying you killed someone 20years ago and he has every intent of killing you if you don't admit to it? Would you just stand there and admit that your innocent and be shot and killed? or say your guilty and run? or just stand there and be shot? I don't know how to put it for it to be understood easily.

I felt bad for the halfling because the guard was accusing the halfling of being a theif when the guard had no base for the accusation. Besides that this post should be closed, I think it's been taken care of and any further posts seem to be pointless.

Slice, I am interested in what actually happened here from start to finish.

I am talking OOC here- the facts about what -actually- happened.

I have seen the full and detailed reports in the incident from the guards, but I am very interested in hearing your side of the story.

What is a shame about this is that what should have been a fun and entertaining player interaction turned into this mess with the DMs involved. It could have and should have been so much simpler.

You can Pm me the timeline of actual events if you want to. I dont care if its public or not.

I am hoping to turn this negative thread into something positive that all players can learn from.

The guards are not DMs and they are not omnipotent and more importantly they are not all-knowing. They dont know what you are thinking and people who play with them need to realize this.

I am hoping that from this people-both guards and other players can learn from the missteps here.

Furthermore, the whole disguise-you dont know my name thing is all well and good, but it is player-player interaction and roleplay. It must also be agreed on between players before the interaction begins. A simple tell will do.

It is not fair to throw that up after the die is cast.

They are not DMs you know. They are players. They do not know what is going on behind the screen. There has to be some RP respect. Though I have to wonder if RP was really the intent here at all.

I have been doing this for a long time fellas, Pushing 5 years in this online campaign. If you think this is the first time I have come up on this situation, you are very mistaken.

Slice 177

As I remember it, my character saw you before you had done all of your buffs. So if I knew what you looked like before you buffed up then surely the guards would too. Its not New York City. It is a relatively mall populace.

Well anyway this is a silly debate. I meant to say that the halfling drew swords and not you. He did sheath them after he was asked a few times I admit. I suspect that if you had not hasted him the thing would have ended differently. Also, you hasted him after the guards specificly asked you not to interfere.

oh well

ya true stripes dont come out in the washing as me ma used to say ;-)
