The anonymity of the internets tends to rattle the cage of vicious little beasts in us. Striving as mature adults to keep that in check isn't such a bad thing.
easily the most relevant comment here.
Planning a server based on everyone being an RP angel and even the angels ALWAYS being angels and never succumbing to their powergaming sides is IMO doomed to failure.
4 years on the old server with +3 the highest bonus on any item and no failure, no doom.
*joins them* I brought beer.
room for a little one?
I don't feel any shame, I won't apologise

That seems like an unfounded statement to me. How about they choose deep gnome because its new not just the same old same old. If YOU wouldn't play a deep gnome because of the grind that doesn't mean someone who does is a UBERMASTER turd.

I would like to ask why you think the ECL shouldn't be allowed to reach 20, and how that will negatively affect yours and others gaming experience if they do?
They shouldn't reach 20 because taking a little longer to reach that level is not payment enough for the power that they will have over others. Hell, there are plenty of ECL races now with levels that are on par with the rest of the powergamers on the server. Extra grind should not grant you superpowers.
So from an RP perspective that extra power means what, you can't kill them in PvP when the RP calls for it? The RP sword cuts both ways. This server is RP centric so ECL races reaching 20 shouldn't matter to anyone (assuming they are allowed in the campaign setting), but being its RP centric then not reaching 20 with the ECLs shouldn't matter either.

It just seems to me that the least restrictive environment allows for more potential out of your playerbase and server. Also please don't take this as negative or critical, I am just trying to find out what the heart and soul of this world and its players are since I never played on Das I

Thanks.

you're forgetting that the tilt of the server build is about balance. At least as far as I'm aware - I'm sure there is apost out there with a quote from one of the bosses about it, but I can't find it.

As someone playing a Drow, can I just add that I don't give a damn if I can level to 18 or 20? It's not like I'm playing my rogue for uber powergame l33tness, I'm playing it because I find it *fun*. It would probably be nice to be able to level for 2 more levels, but meh, who cares? If you're playing the server to RP (like you should be doing) it doesn't really matter. This is only gonna upset the power gamers... who I don't much care for anyway.

(By the way, someone mentioned darkness + sneak attacks = overpowered - it's bugged, the target is treated as concealed 50% and gets bonuses as if it was an invisible creature. Found that out the hard, painful way.)
