Pure druids are one bitching class. There's the classic take one level of monk (if they do it the same way as NWN1) and your AC will skyrocket hence druids depend upon wisdom for spellcasting.

Their animal companions are ridiculous, the bear at level 20 is probably even more useful as a tank than most fighters!

When taking ability scores, try to put asmuch into wisdom as possible, then even it out with DEX (for AC), consitution (for health), and dump what ever left into strength and intelligence. You don't want to waste too many points on strength hence you'll have your shapeshifts for that, and if they include spellcasting while shape shifted, well, there's not much a druid is not going to be able to take down. :P

sounds good, but im going to make him fairly low intelligence but alot of wisdom and strength. as you would imagine a horc of the wild would be.

at the moment im not too concerned with his performance just more interested in RP'ing but im sure after a bit of that ill make him better without jepradising his character

The most powerful class combination is this: A single class, and the level 20.

Of course, that is purely mechanics, and dismisses much of the role-playing motivations many of us hold very dear. Numbers are all very well and fine, but a compelling character is convincing to fellow players: Believable, with honest motivations and true-to-life and consistent choice-making. Flexability is a desireable trait, but being a specialist allows for enhanced teamwork with other sorts of specialists. I can tell you right now that when I have a twentieth level character, I hope by then I have made a strong ally of a 20th level priest.(lol, who hopefully shares much of the same moral/ethical beliefs as my character, whatever they might end up being.)

This is a game meant for parties, not single heroes. If you want to create a character that others can rely upon, trust to be excellent...consider creating a character that would fit well within a group, serving some specific need any group would desire. What that need could be, you will have to determine for yourself.

Actually the more I look at class descriptions and such, a group of bards will probably be able to tear through just about everything.

If they all use different inspirations and such, they could also use a wide array of songs and spells.

A single level 20 bard wont be over powered at all. But get a few together and I can see the power growing exponentially.
I'm always right. I'm also a jerk. It's not my fault you can't get over the latter to see the former.

And different levels of bards too. My character will only have 10 levels of bard, but he can use the lower inspirations which are still awesome, while a higher level one cranks out some of the higher up ones. Especially that one that gives all party members the highest BAB!

There's a difference between the inspirations and the songs for a bard lanky.

You can only have one inspiration active at a time, but it is a persistent effect.

Songs have varied duration and a limited number of uses per day.

The one for the highest BAB is a song so it ist limited duration.

The inspirations do a lot of varied things though.

Check out this link to see the full class description.

Oops the BAB one was a song. Either way my point still stands that a higher bard can crank the higher level ones while the lower bard crank the lower ones.

I'm just keen for the huge amount of utility available to the class. A good bard in any form will be hard to counter.

In terms of both songs and inspirations a higher level bard will be greatly superior to a lower level one.

In fact the only ability a lower level bard would have that would be close to that of a higher level one looks to be ironskin chant.

But even that would be outproduced by the regeneration inspiration.

I will agree utility is a large component of the bard, however, they dont really multiclass well, as nearly every ability they have increases in effectiveness as they increase in level.

The most levels a bard can lose to still really be a bard is 4 more than that and you start losing a lot of spells, and periphery things.

Personally 18 levels of bard and then sprinkle in a couple levels of whatever you want can be really good.

Of course all of this is kind of moot if you're not really interested in the songs, or the inspirations, or the spells... but if you're not, why bother with a bard?

I think they multiclass exceptionally well. Ok you won't be as all purpose as an 18th or 16th bard, but I want duelist first. Those 10 levels of bard will give my enough utility to dance with anyone so to speak. I'll have silence and haste, mirror immage and darkness just to ratle off a few spells. These alone will make fantastic additions to any dex based melee class.

And don't think I'm trying to powergame the bard either, this is a build that popped into my head when I saw in 3.5 Duelists need some ranks in perform as a pereq. This was an awesome angle to use those bard levels methinks in the way that him swashbuckling and fencing was him performing.

And with the low level songs and inspirations, I'm thinking of them more as bonuses not game winners. Some of the lower level ones like Cloud Mind I think will become bread and butter moves in tandem with rogues and the like.

Anyway! We could play Nevertheory Nights all day long, but I think this 10 bard 10 duelist will be a very fun class to play. :D

Oh i have no doubt it'll be a blast for you.

I just know that spells are fun, and those are what i miss most of all when I multi-class a bard a bit too much.

Thats the spirit! /sarcasm off

I have never banned anyone for finding bugs...its what you do with them that shows what your made of. And that....is up to you.

If you exploit a bug without reporting it, then hell yes I will ban you, just like anyone else.

Im not encouraged by that post though.

In addition, if you are looking for that kind of entertainment ie:"smashing it", then why dont you just go ahead and find another server to smash stuff on.

I certainly will, but I usually play under a different name when I do and I usually dont play very much beyond the 7-8 range. That could change though.

I havent even thought about what kind of character I would like to play.
