Although I know you do listen to what players say, it's nice to see it reiterated here.

I know all too well from my own line of work that it's one thing to talk about an idea, and another entirely to actually make it a reality. But as they say, Rome wasn't built in a day. We can cope with having to wait a little :P

*grabs a bag of twizzlers ready to give out to anyone* I'm still new and ignorant :D I figured but just wasn't sure.

This might sound unfair, but isn't that what people were been told for almost a year now? I'm getting the feeling that Dasaria openend its gates to early. A new area every few months is not enough to keep people interested. When someting new is addded the population grows for some while till people have been to the new area for a few times and thats it. People do this a few times till they get tired of waiting for a bit of new content for another few months. After then they move on. And once you have left you are unlikely to come back for just one new area.

So maybe it would be a good idea to freeze the released content (or even shutdown the whole server  ) till there is enough content for some kind of relauch. Nobody will come back because of one new quest. But if there is new content to keep you happy for weeks than you have server full of players. And players attrackt more players. And you can really post a "Relaunch of Dasaria 2! Tons of new content to explore, hundreds of new items to play with, new quests to keep you busy for weeks" on the important sites. That will attract people. And not a "we have a new quest" once every 1-2 months.

I think shutting the server down completely would be a massive injustice to those people who do still play regularly. Also, going without a content update for a very long period of time (which would be required to develop such a large update) would probably do more harm than good.

To be honest, I think Dasaria II should just kick things up a notch and try to recruit more team members to work on new content. More people working on it means the updates will come faster, and new content will be available before players start getting bored of the old stuff. More story progression would help fill out the time between updates, too.

I generally agree with Thracius, but I don't think loads of new content are what's needed -- not so much as giving our characters something to do when there aren't DMs on. By something to do, I don't mean dungeons, but tools to progress the Dasaria plot on our own.

Because there's only so much you can speculate on the previous/next mysterious attack by The Master.

If you don't think we have content in this game, you can always create some of your own.

I'm not directing this post to any one person in particular, but after reading a few posts - I'm pretty irritated.

Role play doesn't stop when you're on by yourself, or when you're on with 39 other people. You don't need 39 other people plus two DM's to log into this game and have fun. I know it might be a bit difficult to believe that I can have fun when my highest level character is 7, but really, it is possible. Just because I don't actively powerhunt my characters to level 20 and then get bored with the game and don't bother to create a new one doesn't mean that I can't have fun.

Again, this isn't directed to any one person... but I find that some of the comments in this thread are getting absurd.

Getting us back on topic, I'm more than willing to update to MOTB if that's what the DM's decide to do. I won't like giving Obsidian more money, but hey, I'll go with the flo. Now, can we get back to THAT topic possibly?

The whole reason people log onto an online game is for interaction with other people. If there is nobody else around to RP with, then it's just not going to happen. I don't want to RP with myself, just the thought of it is absurd. It's obvious nobody needs 39 other people and 2 DM's in order to have fun, however, a reasonable server population would drastically increase the chances of finding someone to RP with when you log in.

I don't think I know of anyone who has levelled a single character to 20, become bored, and then been 'too lazy' to create a new one. Most people on this server have made MANY characters by now, probably most of them never even got to level 20 in the first place. But I think most will agree, after you've made so many characters, you start to run out of new ideas and the game starts to get old. In all honesty, I think most people have just got kind of fed up with Dasaria. It's been over a year now, and that's a pretty long time for anyone to play a game.

You're right to say that this discussion has gone completely off topic. To be honest, I think we're done discussing MoTB now, having decided that it's best we hold back from upgrading for the moment, as it's not likely to have a significant impact on the population either way, and there's no point in doing it just for the sake of it. However, the thread has evolved into a discussion about what other steps we could take to help improve the server, so maybe we should finish up with this one now, and make a new thread with an appropriate topic, in which to discuss these issues.

i say upgrade to motb, as it is innevitable in the end and it'll end this whole argument about it once and for all and people can move on. Not upgrading is a hinderance and will continue to drive peoples thoughts on this trivial matter.

I for one plan on making a comeback whether or not the server updates, but i'm sick of all this arguing about whether to upgrade or not. Let's just upgrade and be done with it.

Eventually I think that an upgrade is necessary for the server. People will be byuing NWN2 gold edition and so forth. And even if I agree on that playing on the server should be something else then new "stuff" to use, I think that many players would like to see their money fully put in use.

So, I d say yes.

On a personal note I am totaly happy with not having to bye MotB, no I dont even own it.

If the staff decides to upgrade it would be very good if this was told far in advance, at least a month so one has time to consider what it means to ones character etc etc..
