question about loot items

Post by pwdcrk »

hi !

it's been awhile since i'm playing here and i think i've visited most of the dungeons present in this server so examining the average loot i noticed something ( that may be wrong that's why i'm asking ) about weapons in loot: the best one are exotic and most of the time katanas ... am i wrong ?

i noticed that because i planned my char to use 2 shortswords and i early realized that if i was sure to use those weapons i have to use some crafted ones ... don't get me wrong i'm not complaining it is just an observation ... the same problem i suppose it applies to whom decide to use like broadswords ( didn't saw much of good ones of them ) or great axes ( same problem ) instead of some REALLY nice Kukri ( some of those are awesome ) in minor part to whom uses maces or morning stars ( some good ones are out there ) ....

but exotic weapons seems to be the best one in loot pool

am i wrong ?

regards :)

The best weapons, with the rare exception for specific builds, will be player-crafted. If you're looking at only loot items there won't be a large difference between weapon types. While exotics deal a higher base damage they require extra feats to use, just as someone with two-weapon fighting feats can use short swords more effectively.

For maximum enjoyment play a build which will be fun, equipment is secondary.

I wouldn't build a character around the loot pools, they change from level to level and some are specific to specific dungeons.

PLAYER CRAFTED WEAPONS ARE SUPERIOR TO ALMOST ANYTHING YOU WILL FIND IN THE LOOT POOL, they can also be customized to your aesthetics and the needs of your character.

You can, however, CREATE YOUR OWN WEAPONS AND SUBMIT THEM FOR CONSIDERATION to dasaria DOT builders AT gmail DOT com. You can find more information in the Carpenter's Hall, there was some good information about item power guidelines in This thread.

Essentially we are looking for well-described, Dasaria-lore-friendly items. Please do not submit generic items with just a bunch of item properties on them, we won't use them. We're looking for items with 'legendary' backstories that people will enjoy and that will enrich the gameworld. Also note that if you want people to see and get to use your item, don't make it a level 20 item, we see too many +3 item submissions. Make it an item for a level 3, 5, 7, or 11 character in an under-served space.

What I often do is make a low level range version, mid level range version and high level range version. (Like a +1 sword, +2 sword, +3 sword) that way more people get to use it.

Of course, its often really nice to have an item that fits into a niche at a certain level, the item feels a little more special and the player has to think about (if its a low or medium level item) if they want to keep it into the later levels just because its cool, or upgrade to better equipment (unfortunately many choose the later, unless its an item they don't really use often; like a wizard with a longsword).
