Splitting Items

i start to wonder if its my computer making pranks. But sometimes i can split items but more frequently or most of the time i cant. I had time problem for a week i think. haven't really tried to split items for awhile.

ex I want to split 5 acid flask in to 3 and 2 flasks.

its a bit strange and i wonder if anyone else has this problem? Perhaps time to re-install the game?


update: i can only split items in deafult, so if i have 10 items i can split it to 5 if i just press OK. if i change the slider its not possible

I have also had this problem for some time. The best way I found to split things now is to do things very quickly. For example, if I want to split a stack of 10 into 2 and 8, I click split, then very quickly switch to 2/8 and press OK. Most of the time it works, sometimes you have to do it repeatedly

strange.. it must be the server then? it seems the bigger problem the more inventory you have, my merchant can split anything right now. harsh when some people want to buy.

I spent a few hours replicating this issue today and it seems to be completely random. I can't find a pattern to it but if you can't split a stack, it seems to help if you move the stack around in your inventory to different slots. I could never get a stack to split any way other than the default 50/50 as described above but sometimes it wouldn't even perform the default split. If I moved the stack around adjacent to other items though it would sometimes work. I had hoped to find some commonality in the madness but have come up short of anything that might be helpful in finding a solution...

I have had a similar experience. I've noticed it tended to....choke up as it were when the item I'm splitting has no room to immediately left. Moving it over a slot generally allowed me to split.

But eh, I haven't messed round with it thoroughly....

i also have this problem i cannot split anything and that makes enchanting items impossible ( assuming that also makes impossible to experiment to learn recipes ) can this be fixed ? otherwise there is no point in having a crafting system ....

i was wondering if the problem of splitting is so common why dont' create a tool for splitting items ? something simple that subtract one unit form the pile and add one unit in the back pack or even on ground ... just let me split or enchanting will be impossible ...

It's not impossible... it's just a pain in the ***.

If you move the stacks around you can eventually find a "sweet spot" where you can split them in half... then half again... and again... until you eventually have the desired quantity. I'm sure it's being worked on, but I can't imagine this is an easy thing to track down. Its a general problem that happens anywhere, doesn't seem to be tied to any particular expansion content, character type, quest, journal entry, etc.

tried but gave up cannot spend an hour to split some gems every time ( counting that also never been successful in my attemps ) i found an alternate method i described in the post " suggestion : npc splitter " but i's very expensive and there is no point in using unless you already know a recipe 'cause you can't store your "splitted" items :/
