A Matter of Respect

This thread is mostly to sate my own curiousity, but also to give the community a valuable tool.
What traits do you look for in the players your character travels with, and what is it that you admire about other players?
I tend to resolve who my characters travel with or befriend based on IC circumstances, but there are players here whose characters my character has not even met, but I suspect they probably are very talented players. Now, I know a mixture of qualities is probably the easy and most frequent answer, but what do you feel is most important?
Feel free to elaborate, but please do not cite specific examples of negative behavior. The intention of this thread is not to compare/contrast names, but to enlighten the community as to what qualities make one welcome here, and sought to play with. I think this information could be useful to not only our newer members, but also our veterans and staff. We should always strive to get along, even if our characters are slashing each others throats.
EDIT: DM responses would probably be very instructive.

I'd go for IC abilities and not being a doughnut. They don't have to roleplay well, be the most inventive, imaginative or unique, but giving it a go gives 10/10 for me. That earns in game respect.
Conduct through these forums gives a deeper insight into the person behind the mask.

Best trait = teamwork. Willing to work with the group for everyone's benefit.
Worst trait = Greed. Always having to be 1st to check every loot drop regardless of party loot rules, always asking for this item and that item, collecting something for an alt (that's a big nono to me IC) Being totally materialistic rather than personality driven.

I chose fun to play with. Because this is a game and I'm here to have fun.
Doesn't really matter to me if its OOC or IC if you're just out to have a good time you're all right with me.

Same here. If they're fun to play with it doesn't matters much if they're experienced players or not.
The option "Fun to play with" pretty much sums up all of the other options together, no? Ya know, depending of what one sees "fun" as...

You are missing a full stop on the second line and you have direly misused the exclamation mark on the third. Do you still like grammar?
As for me, well, as the saying goes, "Girls just wanna' have fun!"

1.) They are always IC. I enjoy the illusion.
2.) They teach me new ideas about how to improve my game, role-playing or mechanics.
3.) They are funny and fun to play with.
Even tho I may not be the best roleplayer out there I prefer to stay IC except perhaps in party chat or in tells. One pet peeve I have is seeing people clutter up the roleplay board with OOC comments!!! But it's not too big of a deal.
[Suggestion: perhaps a comment section for the roleplay forum]
I like to learn to roleplay better from others & having a good time will also earn my respect as well.

To me its a mesh of :
Playing by Server Rules
Being Able to avoid having to use PVP For just about any situation
Creating characters you can quickly recognize, or associate with - great roleplayers (The less OOC the better).
Creating "kick *** builds" , while it seems to have no votes - seems to be the discussion on MANY players lips. I don't understand why some people can't make builds that revolve around roleplay, rather than powergaming.

Some people are too in touch with their inner steak.

Yeah, I wish I had kept that option as just 'They are funny.'
All of the choices represent the different ways a player can be considered fun. Oh well.

Funny and fun to play with.
This incorporates the ability to utilise humor both ooc and ic.
Nice when people can stay in their "role". However RP "nazis" get tiresome, so long as someone is giving it a go...thats good enough for me.

If they're giving a go, asking questions OOC that they are unsure of. Then I will never complain about that person OOC. IC is a different matter.
