Where do your characters come from?

And I don't mean in an IC sense, I mean - what made you create your character(s).

When I think of Minuvas, and when I created Minuvas - I based him heavily off about a 2 minute clip I saw for a Video-Game intro called Warhammer: Mark of Chaos.

It just works so perfectly in the setting, an Imperial/God fearing Warpriest. Trying to bring that Warpriest into a more civil setting of daily Imperial life, thats the interesting part.

Where do you characters come from, why did you make them?

Minuvas would certainly be at home in Warhammer 40k as a priest or inquisitor from my perspective..

As for Nrungg, I've made so many different characters over the years that I have an infinately hard time actually enjoying any concept I think up. So I have to make things either very odd, or very plain.

Nrungg is the odd, and influenced primarlily by a D&D party I saw once that had an Orc Ninja who could never hide because he smelled so bad, and was forced to knock everyone out. Said party also had a Pixie Berserker.

Talk about awkward character concepts

Most of my characters are experiments. Not in the mechanics of the game but in aspects of personality or alignment. In Das 1 my characters where helpful and mostly good.

With Das 2 I wondered if I could pull off playing an evil character but not only that but one that most people play as an insane killing machine. Could I pull off that character without fitting the stereotype that most stuff a CE character under?

I asked myself what qualities do I view as some of the most disrespectful, hateful and disgusting and then I applied these to Rhode.

The experiment has been interesting so far because even with all these negative qualities there are some who are still tolerant and forgiving or just naive of someone who is trying so hard to be hated and disliked.

Don't try telling your sob story to Rhode because he doesn't care. "Yous listens.....Hears dat sound....Dat be the sound of birds die'n."

Well I tried to convince my friend to play on Dasaria with me and the idea of a Bard-Paladin duo just sounded fun... After a couple days he finnally decided to give Dasaria a go. I came up with the idea to be his Squire and then it just sort of took off from there.

Riykhan came from when the new forum came live. People put in some stories and I just sat down and wrote something. It turned out to be Riykhan and he grew from there.

Danny is a pikey, he is based on my experience with the pikeys from around my local area back in the UK. I wanted to make a bare knuckle fighter and this just fit the bill perfectly.

Imira came from a story I wrote about loss. she is the personification of the story and, when I get a chance to write more, about the various ways it can be dealt with and where it can lead you.

I originally wanted a cleric who was unlike my benevolent cleric in Das1. Still working on that. :P

Noa Longbane is based of a character from a story I've had in my mind for some years. Never really wrote the story though, due to laziness. :/

The character Evelond fits my player, because he acts like my mind, not my self. It's hard to explain; even though I've not realized it, the character Evelond Formos has been a part of me before I even knew nwn existed. :)

Sil was always a background character for old campaigns some might think he is a take off of the fool in the Robin Hobb Farseer books but I actually came up with him before I ever read those books. I did really like the character in those books and was a little surprised at how he resembled one of my story tools in campaigns. I am having allot of fun playing him as a main character this time around.

Raina and Delia were my own inventions that happend to come from the campaigns with Sil.

Celintra, was based on a previous character concept in another game. This other character was named 'Witcheaven', and was originally the conception for the previous character I had in Das1, named Heaven, oddly enough. Heaven didn't want to do what I told her to do, and .. oddly, stayed too sane for my liking. Celintra is hoping to fix that problem. :)

Confused? Good.
