Hello,

My login is Cyber_hawke and I am really a newbie to Dasaria and PW role playing. Can anyone offer any advice as to how to get started? I did create a fighter simply because it seemed the easiest to start learning with.

I am in the tavern and ready to start....thanks

There are a lot of quests around, talk to NPCs (None Player Characters), when you mouse over them your cursor will turn into a conversation icon. They will send you on quests to gain experience, gold and learn the game.

Dasaria is all about Role Playing, so try to stay IC (In Character) and try not to talk about none Dasaria related stuff in game.

Also, don't be discouraged if you don't meet friendly people. If you're having trouble understanding something In Character, just put little (( text )) marks or // text , before your question and let the other players know. While their characters aren't friendly, Das has a great community of players.

Good point, because Nrungg comes off as a complete a$$shole :)

That's actually a very good point. None of my characters are nice, especially my most recent acquisition. I would also suggest, to newbies, to read the background section thoroughly. Also I would read the Q&A for the Background section, which is stickied in this area, in General Discussion.

Read the server rules.

Don't try to walk out the gates and kill stuff. Talk to the people in the inn where you start. Talk to the people right outside of the inn. Head south into town talking to all the people on the way.

If you crash, (and you will) sometimes you have to talk to those people again to get your quests again.

Check your journal, just push the letter j on your keyboard, to see what you need to do for most of your quests you get.

Rest, R, on your keyboard, often. It saves your character to the server. Do it after you get a new item, gain exp, any time you want to save your character to the server.

HAVE FUN!!! Hopefully you will run into some nice characters who are willing to help you out in game, as well as the mean trouble makers who spice up life for everyone.

If you feel you are being harrassed in an out of character manner, come here and send a private message to Jehannum or Wyvern or jay four. There is a list of DM's in the news and links forum.

And check the forums for updated information.

There is an auto-save that shows up in your window, but it doens't work currently, so you have to save your character yourself by resting (unless you log out) incase the server crashes.

All else fails, come complain on the forums. All the cool kids do it.

Thanks for all the great advice

Boy, you are right about the crashing....but the game seems to be worth the trouble.

Two more quick questions....

Is there a way to delete a character from the server?

Are the weapons pretty balanced? I noticed that some weapons that are initially available go all the way up to 3, while others remain still basic. I thought about doing a Paladin/M/COT using a Bastard Sword, but don't see much in the way of higher level equipment...can I get it later, or would I be better off to select another weapon such as a falchion?

PM me the details (account name and character name) and I can delete him for you. All of the weapons and gear should be available, though some might just be harder than others to find, depending on where you go. As for bastard swords, they are definitely available upto +3, which I believe is the cap currently.

The magical weapons available from the starter shops are all there because a PC sold them. The only enchanted weapons the [1st map] shops stock themselves are a few +1 missiles.

Once you are level 2 or 3, start climbing hills. You won't regret it.
