Tieflings are the best!
Anyone who wants to play a Wizard or a Rogue who doesn't play as a tiefling, will have an immediate disadvantage. No other race will be on a par with this subrace.
That is just one example of why this discussion has been opened up. An extra feat that a Human gets wouldn't even come close to making me decide to select one.

would it be odd to assume that most will play for pleasure and not strictly for power? i think DM approval would be the best route though I intend to play mostly humans. still it seems mildly strange that we would be so overly concerned about races being used for power builds. elven rangers anyone? halfing thieves? half orc barbarians? those are in my humble opinion boring. give me a halfling paladin or a dwarven thief. how about a soceror half orc. suprise yourself and bring some imagination to your character. there certainly seems no lack of that commodity in this player base.

The majority of players (and oddly enough, the minority of players on Dasaria. Shows what kind of server we have here) play for power because for them it's pleasure.Nuclear Diva wrote:would it be odd to assume that most will play for pleasure and not strictly for power?
When the floodgates open and the server is launched, new players may very well outnumber older, accustomed players. Like I said before, the majority of players out there tend to take pleasure in building a successful, powerful character (and really, we all are guilty of wanting that. Not too many people want to play an ineffective, or weaker character. We all, in some respect, strive for "perfection").
If people can attain a powerful wizard or rogue by going with tiefling, and they know and acknowledge this from the beginning, then most will go with tiefling.

Personally I am going for the human rogue simply because of the extra skill points and the extra feat. It was something I regretted not doing with Ivae. I don't doubt people will go for the tiefling rogues, but honestly, their advantages aren't that large, when it all comes down to it. Being harder to level up is a severe disadvantage, I think, compared to humans, or half-elves.

Tieflings get +2 to intelligence (more spells for casters, an extra skill point for rogues per level) and +2 dex (bonus to every key rogue skill as well as their attack, defence etc). The only penalty they get is to charisma which is a dump stat for those two classes anyway. The advantage is huge for them.

True, and yes, it was an incredibly tempting choice for me, however, in the end, since I'm going to try to do a PrC, having as many skill points as possible was more important (not to mention the extra feat).Wyvern wrote:Tieflings get +2 to intelligence (more spells for casters, an extra skill point for rogues per level) and +2 dex (bonus to every key rogue skill as well as their attack, defence etc). Trying to fit in Bluff, Intimidate and Diplomacy isn't the easiest thing to do with 8/9 other skills.

I think the extra +2 INT is a extra skill point per level - same as the human gets really, plus you get the other bonuses of the INT as well.
For me, picking tiefling is a no brainer.
For rogue, you used to pick either human, elf, or ling. Elves trade CON for DEX, lings trade STR for DEX. Both STR and CON were pretty nice for a rogue, so it was something to think about. But Tiefling trades CHA for DEX. If it was just that, I'd say tiefling had the advantage. But it's even better, beacause they don't just just get the DEX, they get INT too, which is awesome for a rogue. The int is an extra skillpoing per level, the same as a human, plus other nifty advantages besides. The 5 points of resist to cold, fire, and electricity is just icing.
For mage it's a no brainer too. You either go Sun Elf or Tiefling if you want the INT. You wanna give up CON or CHA? No brainer! The fact that you get DEX on top of that just makes it that much sweeter :) And the elemental resists? Hey, as long as you're pileing them on, I'm not gonna stop you!
To me, both are no-brainers. If tiefling is going in as it is, I'm playing one. I'm not sure if I have a choice or not, but I -am- sure I won't be the only one making that choice.

Oh heck yeah :) Is she hot? We could have tiefling/aasamir children. Some people won't approve, sure. They just don't understand.
Besides. My demon ancestor was like 50 generations ago. I never even knew him. Heck, I may not even be a demon. He's a pretty distant ancestor. Even if I am, I'm like what, 1/64th? You want me to drink from a different water fountain too? Thats Racist!

Absolutely. That is one of the options I believe and should be fairly easy to implement. The stat changes are in the same 2da file that would need to be changed to disable them completely. It would need a small hak (which I'm 99% certain we are having anyway because we want to change the deity options).Tinuvhiell wrote:can you remove the bonuses from those classes so that the only reason to pick them would be purely RP? Make them the same stats an elf or a ling, so you have to pick something to lose for the something you gain.
