Never Forget 9/11!
Never Forget 9/11!
Never forget the slaughter of innocent Americans by a tyrannical and oppressed people.
Whom envy our Freedoms, hate our Liberty, and despise our way of Living.
Never forget the Men and Women who are serving now, and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to protect these ideals.
Let us honor these men, women, servicemen and civilians. For whom their greatest crime was living and breathing the American Dream, fulfilling the American way and the Pursuit of a better life.
On this day we honor them. Put your Flag up, remember those you have lost, and let us never forget the terrible tragedy our country suffered when it was attacked by the evil of the world.
May God CONTINUE to Bless America
and May we NEVER forget 9/11.

If this isn't some kind of a joke (which I would gladly assume it is), i might have a thing or two to say about it

Sorry, but the post sounds like simple-minded propaganda. Just replace a few words and Bin Laden himself could use the text.Falcon wrote:I am uncertain how this could ever be considered a joke.

It would do well to remember that representatives from dozens of other countries took a dive on that day and we've all been reeling from its after effects. Not just a day for the Yanks here.Never forget the slaughter of innocent Americans by a tyrannical and oppressed people.
I don't feel any shame, I won't apologise

To me it's not about 9-11. To me it's about ignorance and a failure to understand. About indoctrination and about abuse. It's not only about Americans or Iraqians. It's also about the Germans and the Dutch, the French and the Brittish, the Servians and the Croats, the North and South Koreans, the South-Africans and the Scandinavians and the Scots..
It's about humanity at whole. And the further tragic selfdestruction of it.
I don't want to ask for a blessing for america. I don't want to ask for a blessing at all. I don't like the supersticious stuff and I surely don't like asking a supposed God for his approval in our next step. Because that's what -they- are doing too and well.. Gods just aren't a good excuse for me to start randomly killing living beings.
These supposed terrorist attacks are -still- continueing. In England and in Germany, for instance. How about we ask for some human sensibility. For some empathy and some comfort. I think we'll achieve more with a grain of that, then all the blessings in the world...

Every single thing is a subject for jokes. No mater how grim or tragic the event is, there are always those who find it amusing, sooner or later.Falcon wrote:I am uncertain how this could ever be considered a joke.
It has much to do with how we process the events of our life in our heads; joking about serious matters makes it easier to approach the situation with a more objective view through lightening the atmosphere surrounding the issue. The weight of emotion is never a good thing when making a judgement.
And never forget the slaughter of innocent Iraqi people that followed. I find it shameful that the US reaction to the 9/11 tragedy was to spawn another one in the middle east. And at a great cost for all sides.Minuvas wrote:Never forget the slaughter of innocent Americans by a tyrannical and oppressed people.
The point is that the tragedy was far greater than just the death of thousands of americans.
And i'm not going to say anything about oil,
that subject makes my blood boil.
This is exactly what the whole thing is all about. Ignorance is a plague upon mankind. I could rant pages upon pages about ignorance, and how religions relate to it, but i decide not to.Kell wrote:To me it's about ignorance
I wish more people thought like you do.Kell also wrote:How about we ask for some human sensibility. For some empathy and some comfort. I think we'll achieve more with a grain of that, then all the blessings in the world...
To summarise, nothing good came out of that fateful, except for lots of learning material that can be used to better understand the current world situation. I think it's important that people talk about this subject, as painful as it may be to those of us that were more directly affected by it. If we refuse to learn from our past, we're doomed to repeat it. I bet no one here wants to repeat that particular 9/11.

I know many people -- friends, classmates, coworkers, their spouses that never walked out of here. They were murdered that morning, along with 1000s of other innocent people. I worked in that building off and on for years, and was fortunate enough only to have to -live- with the memory of that day.
Maybe this is all some kind of joke in some places in Europe or the Middle East, but excuse me if I'm not laughing.

Then I suggest you do not use this forum for such humor. Regardless of your opinion on the events of the day, and those that followed, that type of humor is not welcome on these forums.kikkelipoika wrote:

If you want to discuss 9/11, feel free. But there is a very fine line of what is appropriate to discuss here.

Oh please. Osama hits the towers with planes, and Americans aren't allowed to post their own "Remember those that died that day" messages because Bush decides to use it as a lame-*** excuse to invade Iraq? And never forget the slaughter of innocent Iraqi people that followed.
It's not about Iraq. It's not about an ill-planned invasion of a country that may not have been involved in the attack. It's about remembering the people that died that day and the rescuers and civilians who are still suffering as a result of it. If, in your mind, they're not worth remembering because the US started a war in Iraq after they died, that's fine. But keep it the hell off the boards.
Those of us who knew people that died or nearly died can tell the difference between cause and effect. You should learn to do the same before you go spouting ANYTHING about that day.

I think that because the events of September 11th have been invoked so often now to further an imperialist agenda, that sincere statements like the original post take on a jingoistic connotation.
We should also not forget the residents, rescuers and those involved in the cleanup who are still suffering and dying from the effects of 9-11 because the American government was negligent in allowing people to return to the area to soon and without the proper equipment.
