I say it would eb a good way to transfer over PnP, butit would still be time consuming just easier to get together which is usually the main problem.
But I dot see it having the same pull as stantard games of today, It would mostly be for the true fans of DnD... not just your average Gamer.

Meh, doesn't look all that nex-gen to me. Looks like that hollographic chess game they play in the Millennium Falcon but with hokey/cartoony looking chars that don't move. It also looks more like a console game.
I'll bet having no terrain save those totally flat files, no animation, AI, etc. really saves on development time, bandwidth, and the size of a mod.
Personally I'd like to see the 3.5/4.0 ruleset laid over a next-gen engine like IDs, something Oblivion-like, or like the whole Vaporware Dragon Age thing, or even a version of D&D using something similar to the engine used in Company of Heroes -- You could have massive outdoor maps and stage huge medieval-style battles. This chess metaphor doesn't do it for me.
Besides, in PnP, I never showed the map to players, if anything the closest thing to PnP was the old text-based ZORK-like games (less the flexibility of course).
Also that was the worst presentation ever. HAS shoulda hired some cheesy vegas ring-girls to give the presentation and played some music or something. Those two dudes were nerdier than the two emo professors who blow stuff up on the learning channel.

So true.. awful presentation. I wish we could see the other guy when he joins in with his "excited" voice

This -immensely- blows and it'll be a loooong time before I volunteer to start playing D&D like this.
I don't want to play D&D using a laptop. I want to play D&D using a pen and some paper. And I don't want to be distracted by visual images. I want to see them in my head. I want to -roleplay- and be able to see my parties responses. I want interaction. Not an emotionless screen. Or 6 people sitting around a table, staring at the screen because the puppets are doing some funky movement. Or because they are being distracted because the wireless internet also does allow them to still be connected to Instant Messenger Programs. Or whatever else that can distract a player from their game.
As a DM, I also will refuse to play with this. Either you're bringing your dicebag, or you're not bringing anything at all.
I thought the presentation was good enough. It's a game for geeks. How stupid would it have been if girls in bikini would have jumped about, appraising the game? Think it would have been believable then? Or even; do you think they could tell people about a green dragon without bursting out in a fit of giggles?... I liked it. It was informative, clean, good to follow and it did get my attention.
Just a shame I'm against it.

It is a scientifically proven fact that bikini girls can sell anything from light beer to earthmoving equipment. Guys with labcoats told me so it has to be true. Not only that but they are especially adept at selling videogames to horny consumers in this particular target audience. How stupid would it have been if girls in bikini would have jumped about, appraising the game?
From a personal perspective they also would have made the presentation more interesting to watch -- maybe with some pumping techno music and some falling baloons -- because the two dudes were just lame.
Who ever said bouncing bikini bimbos don't play D&D anyway? What, do you think the 20% of characters that female are all played by men or something? *holds side with the pain of laughing* Certainly some of them must be hot bikini chicks.

You also assume that a woman in a bikini is incapable of "appraising the game." Clearly you are some kind of misogynist. Perhaps she is some kind of bikini accountant.

We have not yet reached the stage where it is necessary for me to become aware of new and wondrous consumer products such as diapers.
I have noticed, however, a surprising number of "hot mom" models used to market pregnancy and baby products, so I do believe my grand unified theory of bikini marketing extends even into the world of diapers, if not the diaper package itself.

I dunno. I think it has incredible potential. Actual voice Role-Playing instead of type. Easily seen and understood gameboard interface. No more die and maps and markers and miniatures. Adding this to a PnP game could be quite useful, especially if everyone can't make it physically.
Dorky presenters, sure, but it's D & D. I think it's a neat idea.
