Dasaria II - A NWN2 Roleplay and Story-driven Persistent World

I got this quest to kill an NPC named Mance and to make a short story short: I snuck up on him, stabbed him in the back, he ran away screaming and his guards and their pointy sticks made me respawn in the inn. Apparently they reported my "crime" to the guards and I'm killed on sight by that Captain in the inn.
Question:
Is my status as a wanted-dead-criminal permanent?
Would it been any different if I choose a dialog option to attack him instead of rightclick-attack?

I'm not certain about the quest, but server reset should fix the guards attacking.

You will be alright after a server reset.

If you get caught doing this quest again just make your way back to the quest-giver (sneaking) or other means and talk to him.
