Newbie Question: Concerning Quests...

Since server is resetting is it ok for me to keep doing a quest even after I've finished it? Because i've done that a few times already, especially with some of the menial delivery tasks (writs) with my characters. Didn't know if that was abusing the server resets or nay...

Not at all, most of the quests have a level cap and the npcs won't give it to you. Until that happens, you are free to repeat the quests.

Ah Ok good, because I feel a little weird doing the same one over and over (like im dirty or something) a little grinding on some mobs afterwards makes me feel a little "cleaner" though

I'd like to hear an Official response on this one.

People repeated quests all the time in Das1 (not as often because the server had a bit more stability) the quests are there to be run to your enjoyment, and I don't really see it as an issue especially once the stability issues are resolved.

The official response is yes, it is alright to repeat them. Some may feel morally obliged not to do them, especially if the server was only up for 20 minutes before it restarted. This is fine, we respect that. We have, and may continue, to add level restrictions on the quests, depending on their difficulty. We also have quest persistence in place, so expect the status of some of them to be persisted across resets. So for now, assume it is not an exploit if you simply repeat a quest from beginning to end, in the way it was designed, and not using any exploits to gain an unfair advantage through a potentially broken dialogue entry.

I try not to repeat any that I have completed. Why would my character keep having the same conversation with the same person each and every time. It just doesn't make sense.
There are several that I have not been able to complete for different reasons and those I have to go through the grind of the same conversations and the same areas but once I manage to finish them I won't repeat them.

I may be new to the Dasarian community but I have to make a comment here.
Mon-da-oth, it is obvious by your statement that you value the totality of the RP experience. I understand and respect that.
I do not know how long and in how many games you have been RP'ing or even if you are a D&D PnP'er. I don't know how much time per week you have to put into Dasaria.
The reason I make those specific points is:
I enjoy Fantasy RP'ing but I definitely need more real experience with it and I've never done the PnP thing.
I'm not a hard core RP'er and am more OOC then IC.
I only have limited time during the week to play. This means that some of my friends my jump ahead of me in XP so in order to 'catch up' I need to repeat a few quests to get that XP back quickly so I may adventure with them on a more equal basis.
So far Dasaria's rules have not only allowed me to do this but are not so RP strict so I can RP at my own pace and in my own style.
This is part of the reason I am like this PW and community and will probably stay along for the ride.
It is my hope that the stricter RP'ers can coexist with the more casual ones and that Dasaria continues to be what I call "RP light" while continuing to provide great oportunities for a good al around RP experience.

I have no problem with you doing that. I was just stating my preference and I know that there are a few others that would do the same that I do. I understand about limited playing time and trying to keep up with one's friends. I won't criticize you for playing the way you do and I won't try to force RP down your throat.
I just hope that if a character of mine joins you on a quest that you have already completed several times that you don't mind if I take the time to read and explore the area because its mostly likely the first time I have been there.
As far as my playing background; yes I use to play PnP from the first addition through the 2nd. I use to DM several of these games and had a long standing campaign world which I created and used. When I wasn't able to find others to PnP with I started looking for an on line option and started playing on various MUD's. I participated in several beta's of different online games but was too poor to pay for them once they left the beta stage and that is what lead me to NWN 1 and finally Dasaria where I have been playing for the past four years or so.
I don't mind taking my time playing and exploring the world the DM's here have created. It made sense for my first characters Myles to progress slowly due to his elven nature. I took three years before I made it to 20th level with him and pretty much stopped playing him shortly their after.
Dasaria 2 is still in beta but given time it will grow to become as great as Dasaria 1 was. I am willing to wait even if that means my characters won't be super human.

Dasaria is a rich blend of herbs and spices...
Wait, I got that wrong.
Dasaria is a rich blend of RP and hack'n'slash. You have to give it some leeway, because it caters to so many that absolute immersion into either play style simply won't do.

I try my best to RP with other's if they approach me RP'ing.
If I'm not in the mood for heavy RP'ing I may say nothing or try to convince the RP'er that I'm not RP'ing right now.
So far most just go there way. I haven't seen anyone force RP and I think that goes a long way to telling what kind of community we have here.
Everyone plays as they wish and allows others to do the same.
I would never try to ruin someone's experience though OR conflict with how they play
There are a few threads here and there complaining about OOC chat and behavior and while most people here (including me) would like to see the RP element build I think there are some that are content with it being 'just a game'.

thats a good point with it being 'just a game', which is very true and everyone gets to play it for enjoyment, but the thing with OOC chat all over the place is that it gets into everybody within ranges window and is somewhat distracting. There are other methods to banter the OOC about which would then still make it a game for the OOCers and not grind up against the RPers either. (just a comment on that particular point in your last post, not to derail your thread or start another topic like the others already going)

I kinda like to do the quest once, maybe twice on the same character that day and don't feel to differently... but it's once i start repeating it more than that it becomes too boring, usually I might do something like the Thieves' Den solo (more loot solo hehe

) then do it again later with a party of characters and some RP'ing going on.
