Scry function
A reminder that your scry settings are PERSISTENT.
If I log in the server again and find only 2 of 11 players visible in the scry, I'm just going to throw up my hands in exasperation and remove it. What's the point?
People lobbied for this because they claimed it would make it easier to form parties and ~70% it seems have, despite what they told us, permanently opted out.
I'll be very sorry to admit that so far it looks like those who said it would only be used for metagaming and stalking and would contribute nothing were right and that I was in the wrong for supporting it.

Go visible people! This is a great way to "stumble" onto eachothers path

I use it, even to mark my AFK. The only time I go invisable is in OLM.
I also use it to find where events might be going on and where all the people are at to RP with
I tthink it is really useful.

Re: Scry function
I agree, I've used it to help facilitate RP, and only go invis on one character. I know it has helped Firin 'stumble upon' people who ended up being great partymates!
However, I've yet to notice too many people opting out, most of the time I log in only 2 or 3 have opted out, even when I played yesterday 80%+ of people were visible.
Thank you once again for the great system Wired, I at least think its very useful for making RPing simpler to begin.

Re: Scry function
I think it's a great addition to help find people and
I try to toggle it according to my play status.
I also find that most people are not invisible and that the ones that are
invisible are so on only one character.
The lfg function seems to be in ready use for characters that I have not seen previously
in Dasaria and I think that it is actively used to find groups.

Give it some more time and perhaps disable the invis option?

Re: Scry function
I use it to see where the people are and will often send them a Tell asking if I can join them. It definitively helps me with forming parties or joining one. If some has LFG I will send them a Tell first of all the others listed.

Re: Scry function
As a relative newbie to Das, it has been very useful in helping me find groups most of the time when I log on. Also when I log on with my level 10 character and see that there is no-one my level playing but they are a few level 2-4s I can switch to my lower level to group up and adventure.
It's great.
It's great.

Re: Scry function
<edited to lessen unfortunate misunderstanding for those who may read my hasty conclusions without reading the responses later>
Some ideas:
1.) There is really very little need for location to be announced, I think most people ask in a tell before they barge in and hope to group anyway.
If location is removed, then there's probably no need for an anonymous toggle and it could be removed.
This change would still let people see levels and LFG status, which is really what you need to form groups.
2.) Another idea is to remove the persistance of the toggle, I'm sure some just forget to remove anonymous after completing whatever it was they needed it for.
