PLAYER EVENT: Sun Sept4: Blessing The Grove! 6pm GMT

Post by DM Osiris »

A calm settles over the lands. The wind picks up, carrying the calming sound of serenity across the lands. For a brief time, silence reigns, combat ceases and the message of Iaosia flows through the air. Fina, Priestess of Autumn has left the temple in Lendose, and sets to the road to perform a blessing in the name of her goddess. Those who heed the call, and seek to be present at the blessing find themselves drawn too a gathering point in Two Bridges.
PLAYER EVENT:
Sunday September 4th, 2011
6pm GMT (I believe its 1pm EST, someone correct me if i'm wrong)

All players welcome. There is likely to be some PvP and PvE involved, higher levels may fair better; you've been warned.
Upon reachning the Hall of Osiris, the AKH would undertake perhaps the most difficult challenge before reaching the Beyond - The Weighing of the Heart

That was fun, I think Mori and Sandi were the only ones who didn't get killed though... Quite the slaughter for a blessing ceremony...

Two Questions though:
1) Did the priestess actually die?
2) What are the rules on resurrections and respawning during events?

I don't think any of the good side respawned or were revived by DM, but it was sort of complained about in the IRC that it happened. On the same note, I killed at least one bad guy twice, but have no way of knowing whether it was thanks to resurrection, respawning or DM intervention that I was given the pleasure of smacking him down again.

Somewhere in a secret crypt in Dasaria.

The mist slipped through the crack of the wall just before its consistency collapsed. Father Arghivius burnt and bloody body kept dragging itself toward the sarcophagus. His body trembling from the lethal wounds his physical shell carried with it. All burns, cuts and energy like weapons faded in comparison to the thin wooden arrow, sticking out from his chest. It had nearly pierced his heart, partly immobilizing himself as he had tried to escape the onslaught on himself and his peers at the miserable and lost battle close to the groove of Ki.
It was not so much the physical pain as the terrifying remembrance that he actually did have a heart that caused him to claw himself inside his resting place. He had a heart, and it was going to stain his mind from now on.
For the first time in a very long time, Father Arghivius felt fear controlling his body. Fear of the masses that so vigilantly defended Dasarias soul still, fear of final death, fear of that he would not be enough to please his own dark gods. Fear of that he was doomed, fear that the light was truly stronger than the shadow,..

Then the lid was shut and the vampire slipped into his rest, his body patiently awaiting his servants to bring fresh vitae. His mind however, awake and filled with nightmarish anguish.

Not being an expert on PvP events I assumed using ressurection was ok. I ressurected my evil comprades at least three times. I was raised once myself as well.

Even though Marrent did not come close to kill anyone I know I saw "dead people walking" on the defending side as well so lets drop this before someone gets annoyed.
My guess is that both sides used res and raise pretty frequently. If the DMs threw in a little extra support for one or the other side I have no idea and its not relevant. They tell the overall story and may or may not choose to tilt a battle.

I had a good time, despite being mostly confused ;) - thank you for the effort DMs!

Ismael fought hard at the battle of the Grove. He sought to confront the archdruid, slowly penetrating the outer defense. He opened rifts and let eldritch toxic spread out to the defile the area. Slaying many he realized he was almost alone deep in to enemy’s lines. The orcs was slain and no allies were to be seen. He curses and sees the grove beyond the mist. In front of it guardian unicorn looked with fierce eye at ismael. A enormous energy of Ioasia flooded over Ismael that slowly retreated back. And from the mist when safety was in reach the Guardian Unicorn emerged with an enormous speed smashing in to the very flesh of Ismael with his horn. A bright light like an explosion of holy energy hurling Ismael away and slams his body in to the mountain wall. Ismael did not have a change to change to his true demonic form before he was rendered unconscious.

After some minutes he woke up healing his body and walked away. Impressed by the power of his adversary.

I assumed so as well. I asked because I used a scroll of raise dead (I could only see me and Sandi standing on the good side after the initial onslaught, so I raised our only level 20 to cover me as I went hunting) :)
It was only later when I noticed the chat in IRC about it that I began to wonder if I had broken a rule by doing so.

One player using raise dead/resurrect on another is not breaking any rules as far as I know.

Broken a rule? Not per say, but generally if there is a DM involved then the defeated characters remain on the ground until the DM's decide to do something. However, there is nothing saying you did anything wrong. Perhaps it would be better if both sides communicated some basic agreed upon rules before hand. Oh, well, live and learn. :D

*The only reason Sandi was still alive is that she had moved up on the mountain for some scouting and was too far away to do anything but cast some grease spells. The enemy was out of range of her bow and other spells and she couldn't find another way down that didn't put her in the middle of the chaos.*

The weight on her back steadily decreases as Click's arrows fly from her quiver and into the welcoming bodies of the orcs' front line. Several of her companions rush forward to meet the advancing army, and she silently chides the invaders for letting her harry them from this unreachable distance.

As if on cue, she hears a twig snap behind her, and then something cold and sharp slides between her shoulder blades. Staggered, Click tries to turn, though her arm is stiff and her broadsword seems infinitely far away. Now comes a second more final blow, and Click blacks out wondering if it would be such a terrible thing to die in Ki's divine presence.

Struck down by a very sneaky Raziel. ;)

Throwing in my two coppers on rez vs. respawn: other players using scrolls or spells to bring back their party seems ok. It's an expenditure of resources like any other spell or item. I've been told that punching the respawn during a DM event shouldn't be done though, and that if you respawn after PvP, you should avoid re-engaging to give a sense of victory to the other guys.

Anyway it was exciting. :D

Late evening next day.

Lagnapis was looking at the Grove and he couldn't believe his eyes. The yesterday ceremony was a total success, but the fight against the Evil Lord Aers and his horde, was something that didn't let him sleep last night. He was shocked that the enemy was so powerful that had reached the Grove undetected. The pathfinders scouts didn't do anything, to warn the defenders from the incoming danger. He already started to write a letter to the organization in Ravenwatch. He was worried that the Grove can be reached so easily.
On the other hand he was proud, to watch how brave, weak and strong, warriors and archers, human, elfs, dwarfs and even the Orc, faced the Evil Lord. Lagnapis was slowly began to count the name of the defenders, that almost payed with their lives to protect the Grove from the Chaos. He took his pickax and began to carve in stone the names of people that helped him in protecting the Grove. The inscription on the stone proclaimed :

"May this Stone be a first foundation of defeating the "Evil Lord". The names of the defenders shall not be forgotten and will live in this Grove for eternity".

Lagnapis slowly began to Carve the names below the inscription.

Mine would be either Sandi *as she is better known or Alysaundra. She has never given her last name so don't worry about the last part that shows above the character.

Naq, more often known as Click (but a small few have figured it out).
