My wife's character just leveled into assassin.
According to the level up screen she gained 1d6 death attack just like any normal NWN2 client or campaign version.
However we cannot seem to get it to work here.
She leveled up while we were not in combat.
Here is what we have tried:
Attacking from behind the target creature,
Attacking from really close behind the target creature,
Attacking from really far behind the target creature,
Attacking from the sides or flank of the target creature,
Starting the attack from hide/movesilent
Joining combat 5 seconds after everyone else - attacking from behind the target.
Joining combat while stealthed 5 seconds after everyone else - attacking from far/close behind the target.
None of these have produced even one death attack.
Was it disabled here for some reason?
I asked DM Loki about this issue and he told me to post here.
Thank you, everyone!

Re: Assassin - Death attack bugged?
Death Attacks will only work if the target is not in combat. I am assuming you are fighting the monsters and she is trying to paralyze them? There is a DC save which is based off of INT and the Assassins level but in order for the check to even be made (ie make a Death Attack) the target cannot be in combat and you must be hidden.

I think hes refering to the death attack damage?
Death attack consists of both the damage and the paralysis DC. The paralysis DC does indeed only work if the target is not engaged in combat, and but the damage works like any other sneak attack. It isn't disabled on Dasaria, and there is no reason she shouldn't be able to exit stealth and deal the damage.

Re: Assassin - Death attack bugged?
Another thing about death attack. The feat says it adds the extra 1d6 damage onto any existing sneak attack.
You'll actually get that extra damage even if death attack is the only form of 'sneak attack damage' that you have. However the game will not pop up a grey 'sneak attack' message, nor provide you with any indication in the combat log it's working, but you will do the extra damage. Provided you meet the criteria for doing a sneak attack of course.
