Ahhh...another follower of Ti-Kwan Leep.
Meditate upon this truth with us. Aaaaoooommm...

Sorry...it's not very often I see a Ti-Kwan Leep reference
I actually just found an mp3 of the whole skit plus the song by the Frantics. It's a beautiful thing.

I like that name. It's not like it does not fit the setting anyhow. I was like.. where the f.. have I heard that name before..? It pained me a long time before I actually remembered.

I steal my names from my own heroes and fictional characters. They might have been around longer than Tyler Durden, but I am sure some people will recognize them when they think about it.

I play James Logan and William Lioncourt by the way.

Don't you think it's a little bit stealing an identity? Because I think it is. It's just soooo tacky to see someone running around calling themselves "Dumbo" or "Kayako". They've already established a name, why do you have to go around stealing their reputation or entirely spoiling their reputation to others?

What if "dumbo" suddenly became an UberEvil half-orc of Doom with big ears? Or what if "Kayako" suddenly became a half celestial Paladin with blonde hair?

Dumbo and the Grudge would NEVER be the same movies again.

Really. It blows. -Please- show some creativity.

There are occasions where people choose a name they came up with and love, and it is associated with something they have no idea about. It does happen. I have no idea who Tyler Durden is. It rings a bell, but I would have to go look it up and I really don't care enough about it to bother.

I see the point with Dumbo.. mostly because it is a silly name to begin with, but also because it is the main character of a large number of books, cartoons and even TV series.

But Kayako? I do not know who that is, and I bet quite a few others would have no idea as well.

I will not change my names unless I have to, and I do not see a reason for why they should not be allowed either.

Dumbo...yeah, you got a point. Tyler Durden is debateable.

Some of us have names we've been using for years; it's actually something that's pretty common among the people I've known who've been gaming for more than, say, 5 years or so. I'm not going to drop a name I've been using for wizardly types since 1993 just because Harry Potter got famous.
Draco - "Allow me to introduce myself, I'm a man of wealth and taste."
Lorcann - "BACON!"

For those that don't know. Tyler Durden is the main character in the book and film based on it.. "Fight Club".

Which is why you wouldn't choose it either. Who she is, is a ghost from a Japanese horror flick. I would hate to see her pop up as a lawful good celestial paladin.

Aside from Dumbo being a silly name; it's an existing name. And look at the names that are already used, I mean, there are some pretty silly names there. If allowed they -will- be used.

I'm not sure about the regulations right now, but I do know in the past people -were- asked to please change their name and not log in again before they were changed. Some DM's might be more leanient then others, but it's certainly a petpeeve.

But then again, maybe they're more leanient these days, who knows. They should answer.

Dayum. Did Rowling steal your characternames? You should sue her, heheh. She's rich enough, she can take it ;p
