A simple message was left at the Morell Inn addressed to no one. There was only a letter N on the top of it. The whole scroll was covered in blood after a stage ritual, that took place somewhere out side Morell.

Written in a tatty journal left in the King's Man pub and eatery.
At the top of the page is a childishly drawn version of the Argentum Vigilo crest embellished with crossed daggers and a dead owl.
The text is all large looped letters and bold strokes, with a liberal amount of ink splots and smudges. In the margin is a simple substitution code, A=1, B=2, etc.
Initiative. It's all about initiative… and trust.
Trust, trust is the thing. Trust no-one and seize the initiative.
Timeliness is everything.
Information is everything, Timely information seized with initiative is the thing.
If I had known how much work this spying is I'd have thought twice trice a lot more. The cost in ink and pen nibs is obviously going to be prohibitive.
Although we've not agreed a cipher I feel confident Sir Phelan, Lord Almaran, Sir Tight Draws, STD will be able to decrypt my masterful code, but I'm buggered if I can think of a way to let him know about the secret drop site behind the loose stone at the back of Knightshome. I don't dare send word unciphered and the experiment with the owls proved to be of limited success.
Actually that’s a lie, they're damn stupid birds, I shouldn't have been fooled by their reputation for wisdom, not one of them went in the right direction! I may have to fall back on the old standby of an acid arrow through the window, if I can find some acid proof gloves.
