Can't enter T&C, game crashes frequently.

I just recently tried to startup nwn2 again and am having problems with it crashing frequently (almost every transition) and not being to load T&C with any of my characters, everytime I try to enter T&C I get an "Assertion failed" error in a runtime C+++ error box which points to \exoresman.cpp as the problem. I can't find this file and the internet says the problem associated with this error is a problem with a corrupt save file while people are trying to play the campaign. I don't know why I'm getting this error because I don't have any campaign save files.

I've tried different compatability modes, I've updated all my drivers, I've changed the settings around and the game is still basically impossible to play if I want to transition. I'm running windows 10, with an intel i5-3330 cpu with 8 gb ram and a AMD Radeon R7 200 series.

I've already done a fresh install twice, and I've redownloaded DAS once. Right now I have a clean install and a fresh DAS, I haven't downloaded any other files or changed anything except for the CD key file.

The process is:
transition
load module
area loaded succesfully
doing area 1 phase updates, and then it never gets to area 2 phase updates. The program stops responding before it can make it.

Hopefully someone out there is better at this stuff than I am, help?

Have you tried using/not using the Client Extender? I don't know why it'd help, but it fixes plenty of bugs for most - as well as causes some for other - users.

Fixed it, used nwn2 through steam..... thanks steam
