I play a greedy, ruthless and arrogant half-orc but he has a sliver of honor. He keeps tabs on those who have wronged him and intends to wait for the right oportunity to enact his revenge whether that be his Warmace to the skull or a more subtle approach. I've only had one enounter that lead to attacking a duegar outside north caer walls which the oponent somewhat humbled Grak with his battle prowess.
I find it sometimes difficult staying completely IC when I think of what Grak would truely do but I'd rather side on caution when dealing with other players.

Today the blood of battle
Upon my weapons will never dry
Many I'll send into the ground
Laughing as they die
**Grakthraal**

If you want to drive a large chunk of players (once more join the guard) towards premature burn out go ahead and do that.Trinn wrote:I htought a char driven redboots-esque faction had been started?
I say the people start demanding they do their job properly!
Its hard enough to do a guards job without people harping on them about doing their job every five minutes.
I'm always right. I'm also a jerk. It's not my fault you can't get over the latter to see the former.
Hurray for Me!
Topic titles are like turn signals. They aren't for your benefit, but for the people around you.

Speaking as a former Redboot, the well-RP'ed villains didn't frustrate me. I enjoyed that RP. It was most definitely the "I'm breaking law because it's what evil people do!"
Logging on every night started to turn into seeing the same crappy movie at the local theatre again and again and again.
I think that in time, these types of villains will recognize their actions are not appreciated by the community, and they will either adapt, or the community will rebuke them (good gang beat down).

Characters should be able to behave however they want. That's roleplay. But they live in a setting. There are consequences for their actions. If someone is chaotic evil and behaves thusly, they will likely quickly find themselves blacklisted from groups or kill-on-sight. If they commit a crime, they will be killed or jailed. Stupid evil people will meet a stupid and quick end.
Perhaps making the penalties more befit the crime should help solve this? A repeat offender could be jailed for life or executed (the latter more likely). Those who like to grief and invoke the name of Evil will meet the same fate as those who do it in Real Life (tm).
That said, I'm sure this will become at lot easier when EoS is more easily implementable and when the bulk of the main development has been completed.

People should be aware that permadeath will always be a possibility, from an IC perspective. Extreme IC actions can lead to extreme IC consequences. It is not an OOC punishment.
Do not think that if a character is caught committing grievous crimes they can escape the harshest punishments that may be applied by the Draconian Imperial system governing Cear and Varana.

It's just a game...

A prominent drow character of Dasaria 1 that had murdered, cut a swath of destruction across the land and plotted against the Queen was captured and sentenced to imprisonment. The character was held there—whenever she logged on she was in prison. Many people believe she was a knife's edge away from execution.
That was the Queen of Dasaria that imprisoned her, not the Emperor or a Governor of Varana. Realistically speaking, an Empire with this kind of disposition probably holds daily executions in a central square.
Think about that.

One thing I forgot to mention in my orginal post, but if you are new to roleplaying, welcome and I commend your efforts and I think this community is more then willing to help out. Even though I have played DnD for years, when I first played NWN I was very rusty since I had not played at all while being in college, and the online thing made it weird at first.
In any case Evil is hard to play, at least any that last more then a few minutes. Learn by being good or neutral first, then after you have gotten a good idea what is around you can try the evil thing. For a first character try to just act like a real life person. Don't go around breaking the laws etc. if you did that in real life a good chance you would be in a jail or worse.

rwar?
Im sorry but I must disagree with this one. My first rp ever was in a free form game based off the night world books. There I ran a character named Takahashi who was a asian vampire. I sat down at work(working for T-mobile with little to do) and started plotting out a chain of events that would last four years if not more. It ended up that nearly everything i had started was finished untill the board crashed after 6 years. I think there are some people out there who know what they are doing. and I am not one of them. I may be ok at playing a villian who works a web of connections, but there are others out there that are far better. And that first rp i had. was my last villian. In any case Evil is hard to play, at least any that last more then a few minutes.
