I know. not trying to prove him wrong. just saying that some times. just some times. even though I hardly have any need to say it. I had thought this was a place where we could freely share our experiance and opinions?

It is fairly free, but because of that, people can disagree. The diversity of opinion on these boards will nearly always surprise you. It even catches some of the veterans off-guard occasionally. If it ever gets too personal, then someone like myself will be yanking posts from public circulation however.

In my rather humble opinion there's much more to be gained from playing a lying and manipulative evil character than a psychotic KILL EVERYBODY! character.

You don't die needlessly as much, you have the possibility of manipulating neutral or good characters into helping you out, you keep the people around you guessing as to what your true intentions are. As opposed to being killed over and over again by characters who don't take kindly to your flaunting of the law or loot-stealing.

Of course, violence is always an option. But being evil doesn't mean you have to be overtly evil 100% of the time, I choose rather to gain power and wealth through deception until the time is right to reveal myself as the evil overlord I really am.

You quoted someone who said evil is hard to play and provided a counter example. You didn't say sometimes. You didn't acknowledge you were the exception. So congratulations you are special but the fact remains good evil is hard to pick up on right away.

Do not think that if a character is caught committing grievous crimes they can escape the harshest punishments that may be applied by the Draconian Imperial system governing Cear and Varana.
Draconian?
Are you somehow saying that we Varanites are not open-minded, and on the cutting age of Legalese?

Off with your head for putting such thoughts in my own!

My Tiefling is CE , but usually tries as hard as he can to get other people to do the evil deeds for him :P and is slightly Chaotic-Stupid after he's slipped into a group and has the right "encouragement" to work him up.

My other character Deo just pretty much does whatever he feels like doing with a CN alignment...

Actually, from the original Dasaria campaign, not a single RedBoot started as a level 20 character. We had a fairly diverse range of levels. Every one of us worked hard to get up to 20 to be able to hold our own against other high level characters, but that part of it was never simply handed to anyone.

Granted, a jail was implemented at the time that we were recruited by the DMs to become an IC guard and enforce the server and town rules. That jail still required us to use an item on the offender and then kill them so that they respawned in the jail. It wasn't always the easiest thing to do.

Correction - enforce the IC town laws. NOT the server rules.

I have heard it's in game already with Das2, but only one person/character has that ability so far. Am I wrong?

I believe only DMs are capable of flagging someone as EOS. As far as I am aware, no one is EOS, though a few are in the queue for receiving it.

What the heck happened to subtle, manipulative, and diabolical evil? Too hard for your evil folks to pull off as opposed to swinging a sword and ninja looting in the name of evil?
I've typed a response to this several times.

Suffice it to say, I've played evil, am playing evil now, and have played with evil. Being evil doesn't mean that you destroy everything. It means, primarily, you are selfish.

You're lawful, but you selfishly want to use those same laws for your own gain (lawful evil); you will kill for hire, or do anything to protect your own interests, which may or may not be good or evil (neutral evil); or perhaps you are chaotic in your decisions, actions and words, however, you relish nothing more than to see destruction and chaos, you thrive on it (chaotic evil).

However, I want to note, with chaotic evil, it can be done without mass killing the entire server. I should know because I've done it. Heaven never once attacked another character maliciously. She never destroyed the guards (okay, Isioviel doesn't count, she was poisoned darn it). She never attacked Redboots..in town that is.. and even then she has only attacked one Redboot to their faces, and I got permission before hand for that (Dante), as it was RPed on the boards. It can be done, I've done it. Being chaotic evil means you relish it, that doesn't mean you do it.

Being evil does heavily depend on having people to play with, as has been mentioned, as well as doing it right. Do it wrong, you'll know it. It also includes a lot of tells, asking players if 'this' is okay, or warning them 'doing that again might not result favorably for you'. I even went so far as to tell people that my character was getting 'close' to losing her temper and firing a spell.

I agree with Jeh, which is why I quoted him.

Subtle, diabolical, Hannibal Lector type of evil, good.
Destroy everything type of evil, bad.

Be any evil you want. You can be the evil that opens fire in a crowded square or the insidious evil that heads a multinational corporation of dubious morality. Like Wyv said (I think), there will be the appropriate consequences for any behavior. I think you can figure out which one of those has a longer lifespan.

Webs of villiany are awesome! Especially ones that can be adapted to meet the same ends as before. That's the kind of villiany that is "accepted" (I use the term loosely because people will kill you if they figure it out).

When I think of Villiany I think of King Pin. Everything set so that noone can get at him legally or illegally. He has so many bribes and blackmail schemes in effect that law won't touch him, anyone who attacks him has their family disappear with noone wanting to look for them.
