Its ironic, but NWN 1 shipped with that bug also, and they had to fix it.
Silly thing is.

With NWN 2 based on NWN 1, why didn't they keep the fixes.
Didn't they base NwN2 on KotOR 2, which was based on an "improved" engine on NwN1?

Possibly.
They probably imported all sorts of things.. but KOTOR2 didn't have the same exterior terrain system that NWN2 has for example...

It's a horrible engine either way, they should've made a brand new one that wasn't so inlove with the DnD ruleset. There are things that work for a computer game and things that don't. They should've taken it back to basics and made a PC game based on the ruleset, and by that I mean make combat smoother and much less rigid. Probably my ultimate pet hate is when you provoke an attack of oppurtunity for taking a step backwards, it's just a little thing I know, but it annoys the hell out of me and is just one of many little things they should've made more flowing for a PC game.

/mini rant.

More than anything it looks as though they took the original code base from NWN 1 shoe horned a new graphics engine on it, added a few spells/feats and shipped.

Mostly because it has some of the exact same bugs that NWN1 had at launch, that were later fixed in patches by bioware.
I'm always right. I'm also a jerk. It's not my fault you can't get over the latter to see the former.

QFT.

Edit: What ever happened to sheathed weapons being visible may I ask? And I love how adding mounts was too big a task for them.

It was hard, so they gave up.

My imagination supplants most of the graphic disatisfactions. Visually, I am pleased with the game, considering I am comparing it to NwN1 and not WoW.

I'll be happy enough with the future additions patches and modders will bring. That's not to say I didn't expect a better release, but the things I consider unambitious lie in other areas.

I just want two things for Christmas:

Not to crash

-and-

a reliable DM client.

Dasaria will bring me the creativity that might be missing from the software.

t'be honest, I thought NWN1 graphically was better than WoW. To be honest, I thought WoW was a massive dissapointemnt graphically, and assumed it had to be that way 'cause the majority of their players I imagine dont have swanky PC's

:edit: :edit: :snip: ! (Zzzz)

I feel the same way. So many complain about the graphics engine, etc. But I think they are comparing it to the wrong games... IE not NWN1.

I'm not complaining about the graphics, I'm complaining that it's the only part of the game which has been improved over the original.

I have to admit there are alot of things that are needed still, espcially in multiplayer. However, I have been really glad to see OE seeming to work really hard in making things happen, even in just the last patch alot of the things that should have been in were put in. There have been alot of games that don't get near the technical support we are.
