Oh how the DM channel lit up that day...
Potion Swilling, Charm Using
Man, I remember in the old campaign, I saw a cleric heal an EOS while they attacked a guard in Daris. Zap with the alignment wand, only for the entire party they happened to be in (half the server population...damn server parties) get a -5 towards evil (including my wife's bard who is as chaotic good as they come).

What I was getting at is play with who you want and don't play with who you don't want to. I've partied with some very good clerics that are constantly healing during battle. I've also partied with some complete idiots that just like to spell themselves up and run through every trap immaginable.Zandes wrote:because cleric is the most overpowered class, bar noneobsoletenihilist wrote:Why play a class that can heal if you don't? Because you can. It's their character, let them RP and play it however they want. If you don't feel the character pulls their weight in said RP or Dungeon Crawls etc, then don't group with them. Easy enough, right?![]()
well in the end by this topic i learned that clerics are useless for group play, i'll take a sorcerer next time at least i'll have him cast stoneskin on me
Guess who I avoid now? The traprunners who don't really care about enjoying a place, or teamwork, or anything that might help spur a little extra RP. That's the whole point of a social and RP environment, you don't HAVE to group and do things with these people. Yes you may have to see them, or deal with them briefly, but for the most part you can avoid and not bother with if how they play bothers you that much.
Question to Devs: How can we get AOOs working properly on Pots pronto?
Biased by my NWN1 experience, until today I never really tried *spamming* pots or kits. But I did and it seems like you are getting more than 1 off a round and that you aren't getting AOOs or necessarily flat footing like you did in NWN1 (AOO for pots, flat foot for kits).
As long as they are so cheap compared to the cash you can pull in, really, it is a bit out of hand IMO. I didn't realize you could pretty easily heal from say 50 out of 160 hp to full Hp in the middle of a big fight using pot spam with very little downside.
Is there anyway for pots or kits to daze you for a few rounds after you use them. It would be cool if they were good for HP maintenance BETWEEN fights but useless in the middle of one. That would make much better sense.

Hate me all you want, but I'd say a script adding timer similar to item useage in WoW would absolutely rock.
You still get to use them as emergencies, but have to abandon the
"Ouch, I cut my finger!"
Potion.
"Ugh, that bush has thorns!"
Potion.
"I'm addicted, I can't help it"
Potion. Potion. Potion.
Does anybody remember stimpak addiction from Fallout?

Much love for Fallout Addictions, and as is I RP healing pots giving my character the latrine runs if he drinks too many. Sure you survive, but you're stuck on the can for the next half a day too!Michael wrote:Hate me all you want, but I'd say a script adding timer similar to item useage in WoW would absolutely rock.

They also seem to spam too fast - could be my sense of timing is off.
But I think you can only take one AOO per round . If it could be one AOO per pot, well that would be nice. But if ou are spamming 3 a round and the enmy only get 1 AOO per round. Also, flat foot isnt such a big deal in low magic, level 20 world. Tumble and dodge ac arent making up such a big part of your AC.
But for sure, it would be a good place to start. Just not sure it would be enough.

actually, the way regeneration is now, I think the server would be way better if heal pots and kits were made crazy expensive. But items that cast the regeneration spell for various amounts of time were made fairly plentiful. That would be much cooler IMO.
Of course some way would have to be made to make heal skill useful.

I don't think I can drink more than one potion a round but I could be wrong I usually dont queue up a bunch. Is it perhaps tied to your attacks per round? If it is that should be changed. Plus you could have 3 attackers get an AOO on you while you drink not just one. It would also incourage people to buy the more expensive pots since they would need the potion to cover any AOO damage as well.
