Troll cave issues

Post by Stormknife »

Dunno if these are planned or what, but.

1: DR 10 (at least)? With regeneration? Are these designed so that weapon users can't kill them even with the fire thing going on?

2: Complete immunity to eldritch blast damage: not cool. Took me a bunch of blasts to figure out that there's literally nothing my warlock can do against those things. Resistance: okay. Complete immunity to the only thing an entire class can do well: not okay.

Some of the darkest places in the world are dangerous indeed, my friend. Take friends. Improvise. Examine the dark corners and thee shall find assistance in unlikely places.

Seriously though, yes, some classes will have a HELL of a hard time there. Not every area will be suited for every class. It is going to happen. And for the record, I could solo it with a level 12 fighter with clever play, so it is not melee unfriendly. Quite the opposite actually.

There's a difference between "Hell of a hard time" and "completely immune to your only real form of offense".

Long as it's not a trend I can cope, though. XD

i'm not about to negate the entire server from any particular class. There are a couple of big of big hitting warlock spells that can hurt them, you just need to have them as a a part of your repertoire.

Ah, cool. Long as they can do SOMETHING against the buggers. XD

I wasn't going planning on posting anything spoiler-ish here, but since it's been done...

** SPOILERS**

... Yarrion must have struck at least enough damage to kill a pretty large dragon, including 4 X one-shots of 118 damage. (!)
And it was still healthier than me after a paper cut..

I think the troll caves are incredible fun. Ventured there twice with four-five members of 9th-12th and found the challenge level perfect. In other words, it was very very tough. We didn't get slaughtered until the respawns took us as we were trying to get out. Getting trounced was the most fun of the entire episode, as it was very intense and dramatic.

Love that place. Very exciting and a great area for mid-level characters working as a group. I like how bringing those bastards down takes a coordinated effort.

My only suggestion would be to make a couple of the two-troll spawns into three-troll spawns. Perhaps raise the XP reward slightly, which is not a frequent suggestion I make.

Thanks for a well-constructed area.

I did this quest for the first time yesterday, i had a lot of fun solo`ing it, nice xp, nice challenge. The only thing that i did not like was there was no loot. I finished the quest twice and both of them i have not found any loot at all.

I have no problem with not having a loot, but maybe turn the loot from nothing at all to something useful, like healing potions or barskin potions, healing kits, etc. So the trolls are not farmed, but took up as an adventure.
