Anyways, mixed feelings on news about the expansion, glad I just bought the game; I have always found that the characters lose their individuality and special feel after level 20 anyways.
Well it's official - Expansion pack for NWN 2

Epic levels rock!
First off, pre-20th levels are really just for training purposes. A character's real career starts at level 21. I really wonder why we as players even have to deal with that whimpy first score of levels. Let's start the game at level 21!! I mean, who wants to bother with those inconvenient first 20 levels when your character actually has flaws, and -can't- do everything with a simple flick of their wrist? LAME!
If you read any novel or watch any movie out there, every character portrayed is flawless in every way, ultra-powerful, and can solve whatever problem they face by casting a spell... so PCs should be no different right?
Remember folks - power = story. No power, no story.... and who wants that?
As if that isn't reason enough to encourage epic levels, let's consider the vast abundance of free time the DMs have. Those lazy S.O.B.'s think spending 10 to 15 minutes creating a monster for PCs to clobber is satisfactory? They have plenty of time to spend an hour or two tweaking each critter so it can withstand more than 1 round of epic thrashing! So let's not let them off the hook so easily!
I say epic levels for everybody! Who's with me?!

I'm always right. I'm also a jerk. It's not my fault you can't get over the latter to see the former.

Set near Thay, yes! Finally! Away from the Sword Coast!
I understand people have a number of problems with them releasing an expansion before the original game is running up to scratch - but if they release 1.06, and do indeed make the effort to solve the crashing issues in multiplayer, then I think we'll be fine, and we'll have a load of new content dumped on us.
It seems like OE actually took in the suggestions for the expansion on the forums. In fact, everything in that list (A new setting, more models, more monsters, more classes, races, npcs etc.) is what I wanted added in an expansion, so you can imagine how glad I am.

LOL Most of my builds don't really shine until upper twenties. I suppose that's what I get for multiclassing in two prestige classes!Chia wrote:Fixed.Griffin Ironfist wrote:LOL No they don't. Yes but the Nymphs will be fully clothed (as we can't have people showing flesh!), and everytime you 'mount' them they'll be in-game ads for more games Atari intend to murder by Quality Assurance (or lack of)broncoblitz wrote:Only if Nymphs are included as Mounts.Lord Zhengyi wrote:I say epic levels for everybody! Ah yes, my first PC kill while DMing came from one of those.
Edit: You'd think Gamespot would check their spelling.

Since the current state of the game represents a discreet subset of the game available in the expansion, I'd have to say that it can't be bad. Because if the builders add none of it, we still have the base NWN2 stuff which is just grand. Mo = betta (or at least the same), imo.
I am way more eager to see what bug fixes and stability issues are resolved in 1.06 than what possibilities will be introduced in the expansion.
Ultimately, it will be the creativity of the builders and especially the players of Das2 that determine its level of achievement, no matter what extra content, levels, PrCs, monsters and so on OE gives us to work with.
And so far, it seems that the builders and players here are committed to making something special, with a deep story, constantly evolving milieu, and a robust player base of interesting characters.

Agree, but my understanding is that Atari are under financial pressure, and their income is based on selling boxes, not delivering a finished product. It is a sad business model, but the reality.Grayle wrote:Rob wrote:They really need to finish the original game before they start on an expansion.

I for one am interested to see all of the new stuff in the expansion that is added to Das II except more epic level issues/characters and potential infestation of bugs.
If I may make a suggestion; could the build team award access to create Epic lvl characters to members of the community who play normal characters with a play fair/with respect attitude?
