I find comparisons between NWN1 and NWN2 with respect to popularity and player numbers (and to a lesser extent functionality) to be somewhat void unless you treat them relatively. Meaning, consider both games at 5/6 months after release, just like Eve suggested. However, this isn't a popular argument on the NWN2 forums, the anti-NWN2 crowd (which are almost a majority on the forums, yet a minority of the total player base) tear it to pieces and claim NWN1 was great on release, which I can say with certainty it wasn't.
The funny thing I find is, that the people who are upset about the game are so much more vocal than the people who are content with it, and this automatically gets people thinking that the game is generally unpopular, which it isn't. I think most of the NWN2 players are content to just play the OC, downloaded modules and sometimes online, rather than get on the forums and throw about their opinion. (Not referring to people here, more so the angry people on the NWN2 forums. Oh and I guess this is sort of redundant here, but this is all in my opinion, I say this to cover myself)

Good to see you teaching the Colonials the finer aspects of English civilisationWyvern wrote:I'm not an American, I'm a Brit, and I can drink with the best of them, what with growing up in England, living in Scotland for five years, followed by Ireland, I'm pretty much a pro.

This 'fact' that PW players represent a tiny fraction of the playerbase was pulled by Bioware, and is very correct - according to Gamespy, the most players online at a given time on NWN1 amounted to the low 5 thousands.
Over 3 million copies of NWN were sold.
The 5,000 online at the time of your snap shot does support the "multi-players don't matter" point of view. Funny, I would think folks who play on a PW would take issue with that mindset.
It does not account for the people who player multi-player for a couple of months, and then left to play something else, possibly returning later. Registered CD codes would reflect it, and might show that the multi-player (pw or otherwise) features of NWN is significantly responceable for the game longevity and success.

Really that explains a few things I have been told about your including you Das I Dragon contributions
Where to then:
London; a few private clubs such as the one with no name on Tottenham court Rd - weird Austin powers esq decor but a fun night out. (It's an invitation only place there is no actual membership)
An allnight club Godskitchen, slinky, Helter Skelter etc etc.
A place local to me wear everyone appears to have the same expression on the faces (It's freaky man)
Sandhurst area pubs to get plastered and wait for some army lads to pick a fight with us?
House party to house party to house party followed by a full English HMMMM
Or since the sun has been shining all week do it properly; find a feild/forest with between 40 to 500 people up for a chilled/laugh/P*** up where you can hear the music from about half a mile away and smell the BBQ's from a fair distance. Thats more a weekender session though.
Unfortunatly the Dublin P*** up is wasted on me as I don't like Guiness.
I can't understand a single word a proper Scotish person speaks but enjoyed my holiday there a couple of years ago. Tirst question I was asked in the first pub I got to near where some of my friends and I stayed was "What the F### are ye doin here, we dunnie see English round here". I was sure we were going to have a fight when he said English but one of my friends translated for me - he was actually a nice guy. To my surprise not one fight and we stayed there for a week.
Have you got Baby to drink Scrumpy Jack yet?

I'd have to agree with you there baby, I generally have relationships with foreign ladies/women. I think it's a personal preference thing though because I think those that haven't tried foriegn are non the wiser.
I'm really interested in knowing your answers on these ones Wyv if you wish not to reveal your true colors to the rest of the community and Erhm someone close to you, I'd be more than happy to receive a PM with them on.

Ok, I know I've panned Mystic Theurge in the past, but understand, in Pen and Paper, it is not overpowered. There are many reasons for this, the primary being that a DM is much more involved in PnP than in any form of NWN, and than in PnP spells are more balanced than in NWN. Plus, in PnP its very rare for a character to get to 15, to say anything of 20th. A Mystic Theurge doesn't even begin hitting their stride until about level 11 (assuming a 3 Cleric/3 Wizard base) as their spellcasting progression is considerably slower.
As to the idea of Mystic Theurge being a "money maker." The MT is part of the d20 SRDs, which are completely free, and so make no money for WotC. Don't believe me here's it is.
I still believe that MT would be broken on a PW like Dasaria, because everyone can become 20th level, and also because NWN has many spells that are more powerful than PnP.

I can't believe some of the responses here... You wouldn't buy the expansions? That's crazy! The expansions make the game, they don't break it! Again, who cares about the lame OC... we want more interactive MP development... Right?! Darn right we do... Who wants to only level to 20? Not me... The more the merrier. Again, developing a tri-class character (with multiple prestige classes), they only become "individuals" once they reach 20+ levels. A fighter is a fighter, until they become a Fighter/Assassin, and then they become unique. To become unique you need the extra higher levels of an assassin (for instance) to become different from other fighters that maybe followed the path of Fighter/Rogue... The two paths are markedly different from each other; again, only available if you have the Epic classes available.
