Just remember, not everyone likes to powerhunt their way to the
maximum level available in the game. Some of us actually prefer taking
the more leisurely route, and actually role-playing along the way. Funny,
because I thought this was a role-playing game, with emphasis on the
role.
He wasn't saying powergaming, he was saying that it is still a game based around epic adventures where crap hits the fan constantly. The only decent role a level 2 could play in the Role-Played event of something like the retake of Ravenswatch would be to provide more targets for IGMS to mitigate to. You may be able to role play standing around town well as a level 2 hence bronc's burn that he thought we were playing Dungeons and Dragons, two of the most badass things in fantasy.

A good point.

I suppose what people want in the end is respect; be it a level 2 running a powerful political faction, or a level 20 Wizard, who can call down destruction at the snap of his fingers. Both are valid roleplay options with different journeys and end points.

However the person who exclusively grinds up to level 20 and then wants to roleplay i.e. "I'm da powa, pheer me" Is sort of missing the point.

LOL Yeah I was beginning to think the same thing.

As for the poster saying that a level 20 picking on a level 2 character... you have it totally backwards. What I stated (about a lvl 20 kicking a lvl 2's ***), was in reference to a socially "powerful" character of lower levels, smack talking a higher level. You've got things a bit reversed. However, in my experience, seems like it's the bored players that like to stir things up, and are generally weak in strength, strong in wit (and usually around level 2), until they get their *** whipped, and they'll log back on with their uber char...

It's human nature.

Now about the longevity of the game... and this server being dependent upon roleplay? I don't buy that. There's plenty of opportunity to roleplay on your way to the level cap, and 20 extra levels equals a ton of hours of action roleplaying experience. There's lots to do and see, people and places to meet; what I think Das2's success will be dependent upon is the servers ability to grow with the game, not get stuck in a stagnant rut.

I dont see the point of having extra lev, classes spell, and so on if its going to mean Re-balancing everything assuming that it will be possible... Look at all hotu servers outhere, i never even saw one that was properly balanced so imagine in nwn2 when half of the things arent even fixed and bugged like kd. It would just mean more work for the staff and at the end, and it wouldnt move dasaria forward but instead backward.
Quite frankly i do agree thats its roleplaying thats going to keep dasaria the way it is or if not better.

Most annoying you mean... I love how I smeared that guy all over Baldur's Gate, and the fool comes back to haunt me in the second game! Arghh! :(
