The trick is to provide more gold than the other side. It's that simple.
If you want to continue this, feel free to PM me, I'm always willing to discuss issues with people, but only in the right circumstances.

Hello resident mages,
I've decided it's about time to start thinking about a symbol for the Guild. So I decided that if any of you were adept at paint programs (like Photoshop), and would like to contribute, please feel free to post up some draft images for me to see.
I have already made one myself in Photoshop, but it's pretty basic, and doesn't really 'mean' anything. I'll put it up later.

I think the symbol should be something simple, like a pentagram or something. Simple symbols are more powerful than complex ones, take the swastika for example, which is a perfect faction symbol, and the nazies made good use of it. Simple symbols are easier to remember than complex ones, which is the reason they're more powerful.
Insanity has been kind to me, but no longer.
This is totally premature as the Guild isn't even established yet, but this morning I got totally distracted while studying and did this:
Two shots of the Council Chamber

Imperial Hall: basically the entrance, with a large statue, and a plaque dedicating the hall to Marcus and the Empire. The shrines to Etoth and Lochwar aren't visible, but they're on the right and left.

The map, just to give you an idea of the layout (There's a couple of named halls and wings, but I won't reveal who they're named for yet, as it's not final - but basically, they're named after people who have contributed to the Guild's establishment, or have become pretty involved.).

Anyway, here's a run down on the areas:
-There's a small one tile shrine to Lochwar and Etoth, and one to Farallis in what will become our little library. They Etoth and Lochwar shrines are basically worked into the "waiting area", and the Farallis altar will basically be just a small part of the library. They're not major.
-There's a barracks, which is just for Tower Guards and Phoenix Guards that reside within the compound. It's assumed that most members don't "live" in the compound.
-Council Chamber: self explanatory. It's meant to look big, and impressive, and decorative.
-Storage room: obvious.
As for future areas, there'll be a library in the south-west, in those currently blank rooms (It'll be a library/study area). I'm going to stick a couple of places at the rear of the compound, behind the council chamber, probably a High Arcanist office and bedroom, and a laboratory/smith-type thing for the crafters.
As to why I'm doing this so early - to avoid studying

True enough.
The original triad that I was intending was Lochwar, Coloth and Farallis if I recall. But then it occurred to me, creating a public shrine for Coloth might draw a bit of negative attention, and potentially even bring in some undesirables.
The inclusion of Etoth was just the result of a suggestion. But changing the shrine of Etoth to a shrine of Ineania seems like a good idea. To be quite honest, I hadn't even read or heard about Ineania until now, and after reading her section on the homepage, I really think not including her would be unusual.
I may just make it Lochwar/Ineania/Coloth/Farallis, to represent both spheres of magic (good.vs.evil) and to pay homage to the king of the gods himself (which is always wise). And as for Farallis, he's just in there for good measure I think, to represent the pursuit and collection of knowledge (in this case, pertaining to the arcane).

Only one thing I have to say -> Are you really gonna have the head councilperson with his back to the door? He'd have to turn around to address anyone coming through the door. Seems... reversed.
It's because his imaging software is colorblind -> red shows up as everything else.ChikenKannon wrote:The guild calls itself loyal to Varana yet I haven't seen a touch of red in any of the rooms? It seems they may not be quite so Loyal.
