Hey that trap wasn't there before!

Please be nice the DM/Design Team, they can make things far worse for us, such as put all the good loot into chests. Such a shame when you open the chest it dispels invisibility, sanctuary etc and your buffs. Oh and did I mention that the true-seeing boss mob only appears after the chest was opened?
In my limited experience playing on PW's the one thing guaranteed to p*ss off a DM/Designer is people deliberately avoiding content. They put a lot of unpaid work into that content, please honour them by playing in spirit of what was intended.

Is being slain everytime we try to enjoy said content deliberately avoiding it? Or perhaps deliberately avoiding it because we are slain every time we try to enjoy said content is deliberately avoiding it...SnorriHT wrote:In my limited experience playing on PW's the one thing guaranteed to p*ss off a DM/Designer is people deliberately avoiding content.
Maybe our attempts to enjoy said content are not the reason it is not being enjoyed.
lol, how would anyone know if you are experiencing "said" content as intended unless the results (or a poll) of an area was posted?
I guess maybe the DMs could set up virtual security cameras in those areas.
Well anyway, I took a trip through the cave to see what was so dangerous (other than bugbears) I experianced like 5 random traps, that each caused maybe 8-22 points of damamge each. Not too viscious. At least not as bad as the "Weapon Rack" electrical turbine that blasts for 40-60
If its not magical I think I'd see the giant battery atached to that, lol.
Well its all great fun, the only thing I get perturbed at is when successfully deactivating a trap, Xp REALLY needs to be given. I know, they are working on it, can't wait. Jsut seems weird you can practice deactivating traps and setting them, but you don't get any better at it unless you kill something manually.

I am glad the builders decided to add a little challenge to our favorite hunting grounds.
I mean level 5 is a bit low for Bugbears, but without the change to trap respawns you would start to find it a trivially easy place to solo within a level or two. Then you will realize that you actually "prefer" to have a bit of challenge. Once you get to know the dungeon, you will breeze through it and soon enough level out of it. Then you will wish you had something to slow down your leveling because you are getting so strong and the environs of Dasaria (i.e., the content) always stays the same difficulty.
It means a lot to me personally that the DMs and builders think enough of our patience with them (i.e., the development of the world) to liven up the action a bit and keep us psyched/stimulated. Traps are but one way for them to do it. I hope to see more changes in the future.
I am not trying to sound unsympathetic, I just think your perspective is going to change very soon due to how easy the content has been. You'll see.
Thanks for the trap changes. This helps out those with rogue skills, and makes it more likely that people will seek groups over soloing.

When the server is empty, or the players are all grinding xp at the mill or wherever yes, partying is so bad.SnorriHT wrote:Is partying up so bad?Guten Raynor wrote: ...

More than anything I'm just wanting to solo as much as I can, so when I do start to party up I know what I'm doing. As of now however, unless I party up advancing beyond level 6 is all but impossible.SnorriHT wrote:Well I hope you find someone to party up with, soloing can get boring after a whileAkimbo wrote:

Oh and what's a level 8 acid trap? Custom content?

There are other solutions for solo players than playing a rogue.
You can still take points in disable trap skill. Granted, it will never work as well as a pure rogue's, but it still allows the possibility of success, especially when combined with appropriate buffs. I am not sure if thieves' tools work on traps as well, but that might be another possibility.
For a caster, there usually are spells to ward off elemental damage. Melee types generally can stomach a trap or two.
Mind, in most cases you can bypass the traps as long as you invest in search skill and proceed slower. That will not allow access to some sub-quests, or certain treasure containers, but it still does not inhibit the completion of the quests I have experienced themselves.
It is not undoable at target levels, just slower and less rewarding than when combined with a rogue in the party.
At least that's what I found with my not-so-secret melee drow alter ego. On the other hand, fights last nowhere near as long as for my rogue, and require far less healing and supportive supplies. It is really just a matter of a trade off, as class selection should be.
Exploration and dungeon crawling is limited for me to predominantly solo play, as I seem to crash much more often when in a party. I usually spend all the money I get from loot on restocking on perishables, but then again, the higher your level the more income you generate anyway, so a tradeoff of gold for experience is hardly a lengthy consideration.
Perhaps the higher level quests are much more demanding to solo, though... I haven't seen everything yet
I'm tempted now to see how a caster would fare in comparison to my other two...
