When rolling Zahur, I specifically chose to pump his Charisma up to 14. This was done strictly for role-playing reasons. I gain no other benefits from it since my character is a mage, not a sorcerer, and I do not plan on multiclassing him to any classes that benefit from CHA.
Was I stupid to do this? (Be gentle with me )
Are there any opportunities to benefit from higher CHA scores in NPC conversations right now? If not, are there plans to somehow implement this in the future?
Sometimes I feel like I needlessly gimped him. Opinions?

UMD is based on CHA. If you take a bunch of UMD, you will find your magical abilities are GREATLY enhanced by using wands, scrolls, and other wondrous items that otherwise would remain unuseable by you.
So I woould say "no" you didn't make a mistake, and in fact you may be very pleased with the result of bumping your CHA. Just make sure you take some UMD so you can make use of it.

You win a lvl in my book, Crispy! Sure, you might lose a couple of goodies but a high CHA will definetelly make up for it. Think of the possibilities! You can sweet-talk guardsmen to get on their good side, you can start a sucessful career as beggar or as a merchant and you can even get better prices at stores! (Basically all that from an IC view) Also, you'll most likely meet talking squirrels, deers, skunks and a very entertaining rabbit named Thumper and you can do all that (yes, I know the following totally sounds implausible but it is the truth) without even taking a level as a druid!
...wait, your character is a guy? Oh, then I've got to tell you a whole other completelly different story...

Its sometimes the price you pay of being true to concept over designing for competitiveness. In my books half the fun of a character is learning to compensate for their weakness, either accidential or deliberate. Like Atharin said, take pride in your decision, so many people use Cha as a dump stat, then play lovely friendly socially adept characters.

To answer your question, there are a few quest NPC's that will only give you a quest if you pass a Persuade skill check or other social skill check, which directly relates to your CHA score.
And, as Ramblinwomble said, you shouldn't feel bad about making an RP-based decision in your character creation as opposed to one that will make you a killing-machine power-build. Being true to a character concept in the mechanics of the a build is hard... especially when benefits aren't necessarily visible most of the time (i.e. in combat). Kudos for sticking with your concept!
As mentioned above, right now there are divine scrolls and wands that will come in handy. In the future, there will be many more Wondrous items that will likely require high UMD to use, and your CHA will help you there.
For example, with just a little bit of UMD, you will have all the monk gear available for your use, such as the ac boots and whirling serpent handwraps.
It is handy to have CHA. And perhaps it even works for your toon from an RP perspective.

I'm with Ramblinwomble and Atharin on this one, as long as your stats reflect your character (specifically, how you see your character), then they're fine, and from what bob is saying, it wasn't all that bad of an investment.
